Stephen Emery, a producer and film executive who worked for Gale Anne Hurd and Bill Gerber and on films featuring the likes of Clint Eastwood, Anna Kendrick, Liam Hemsworth, Aaron Eckhart and Liam Neeson, has died. He was 46.

Emery died Saturday in a Los Angeles gym after a workout, Big Swell Entertainment CEO Andy Horwitz told The Hollywood Reporter. He recently joined the production company that had launched in October.

“Everyone that had the pleasure to know Stephen Emery is heartbroken over the sudden loss of one of our own,” Horwitz said in a statement. “Stephen was much more than an invaluable producer, he was also an irreplaceable friend. His passion for film was outweighed only by his passion for life, and he lived every day like it was his last. We will miss his adventurous spirit, his loyal friendship and his genuine love for life. Rest in peace, brother.

Stephen Emery, a producer at Big Swell Entertainment, died unexpectedly following a workout at a Los Angeles gym on Saturday. He was 46.

A cause of death has not been determined, but Emery had survived a heart attack five years ago.

Exclusive: Ashley Holland, former TV lit agent and partner at WME, has officially joined Onyx Collective as SVP of Scripted Series. She is one of three new executive hires at Onyx as the brand is building up its scripted operation, along with producers Anil Kurian, who is coming from G-Unit Film and Television, and Janice Park, most recently at Made Up Stories, who will both serve as VP of Scripted Series. All three will report to Tara Duncan, president of Freeform and Onyx Collective, Disney’s content brand designed to curate a slate of premium programming by creators of color and underrepresented voices.

Holland, Kurian and Park will spearhead the development and production of Onyx’s scripted series and specials across all programming categories and formats. The Australian actor posted on Instagram for the first time since filing for divorce from ex Miley Cyrus, to promote his new movie Killerman. Hemsworth last posted on the site to give a statement on his separation from the pop star, in which he wished Cyrus “nothing but health and happiness.”

Producer Ed Pressman will receive a lifetime achievement award at the 23rd Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal this summer.

Pressman’s credits include Alex Proyas’ The Crow, Oliver Stone’s Wall Street, Abel Ferrara’s Bad Lieutenant, Mary Harron’s American Psycho, and Jason Reitman’s Thank You For Smoking. He will receive the accolade on July 13 at a 45th anniversary screening of Brian De Palma’s Phantom Of The Paradise. The festival has also arranged a 25th anniversary 35mm screening of The Crow.

On the first day of the American Film Market, Blue Fox Entertainment acquired U.S. rights to Solution Entertainment Group’s action-thriller “Killerman,” starring Liam Hemsworth.

The film also stars Emory Cohen, Diane Guerrero, Suraj Sharma, and Zlatko Buric. Blue Fox is planning a spring 2019 theatrical release on at least 200 screens.

The film was written and directed by Malik Bader and produced by Myles Nestel, Craig Chapman and John & Michael Schwarz. Hemsworth plays a New York City money launderer who desperately searches for answers after waking up with no memory, millions in stolen cash and drugs and an insane crew of dirty cops hunting him down.

Blue Fox’s Todd Slater negotiated the deal with Nestel, and Endeavor Content‘s Christine D’ Souza-Gelband and Christopher Slager negotiating on behalf of the filmmakers. The Solution’s Lisa Wilson is handling international sales.

Both Vince Vaughn and Liam Hemsworth have signed up to star in the feature directorial debut of Clark Duke’s drug drama ‘Arkansas’.

Duke, who also penned the script, is also set to star in the story that follows a pair of low-level drug runners in the Dixie Mafia, portrayed by Hemsworth and Duke, who live by the orders of an Arkansas-based drug kingpin, played by Vaughn, whom they’ve never met. But when a deal goes horribly wrong, deadly consequences ensue.

Patrick Hibler, Jeff Rice, Martin Sprock and Storyboard Media will produce with Media Finance Capital’s David Gilbery and Charles Dorfman (who funded the film) will serve as executive producers alongside Hercules Film Fund, which is providing funding as well.

Shinji Higuchi’s Attack on Titan will receive its Canadian premiere as the closing film of this year’s edition on Aug 4. The live-action film is based on Hajime Isyama’s steampunk fantasy war opera manga series.

Additional highlights of the final wave of titles include the world premieres of Malik Bader’s thriller Cash Only and Ken Ochiai’s Ninja the Monster, as well as the Canadian premiere of Jonathan Milott & Cary Murnion’s horror comedy Cooties starring Elijah Wood.

The 19th Annual Fantasia Film Festival is only a week away, beginning July 14 and running through August 4. And as promised for today, they’ve revealed their full line-up of films screening at 2015’s festival in Montreal.

This year’s line-up boasts 22 World Premieres, 13 International Premieres, and 21 North American Premieres. Both Marvel’s Ant-Man and the animated Miss Hokusai were previously announced, but now they’ve added the much anticipated Attack on Titan movie as their closing night film. Other highlights include the Sundance darlings Cooties, starring Elijah Wood and Rainn Wilson, Cop Car, starring Kevin Bacon and directed by the upcoming Spider-man director Jon Watts, and a trio of films from horror auteur Sion Sono.

Crush is definitely the Swim_fan of the current “CW” generation of horrors. Director Malik Bader is a lucky man. He's managed to nab sexy Irish actress Caitriona Balfe to appear in his new thriller 'Crush'. Ex-model Balfe (below) is set to play the owner of a comic book store where co-star and co-hottie Crystal Reed -below ('Skyline', 'Teen Wolf') will be working. Lucas Till ('Battle Los Angeles'), Sarah Bolger ('The Moth Diaries'), Reid Ewing ('Fright Night'), Camille Guaty ('Prison Break') all co-star and in addition now even 'Saw' star and co-creator Leigh Whannell has joined the cast. Till plays a star high school athlete who becomes the focus of a secret admirer's obsession. He soon discovers that the innocent crush has turned dangerous and deadly. Whannell will play the owner of a local yogurt shop, while Balfe will play the owner of a comic book store where Reed works.

Described as being a cross between Cruel Intentions and Misery, the story centers on a star high school athlete who becomes the focus of an admirer's obsession. He soon discovers the innocent crush has turned dangerous and deadly.

The movie is casting up now with filming scheduled to begin on October 17 in Los Angeles.
