Stephen Emery, a producer and film executive who worked for Gale Anne Hurd and Bill Gerber and on films featuring the likes of Clint Eastwood, Anna Kendrick, Liam Hemsworth, Aaron Eckhart and Liam Neeson, has died. He was 46.
Emery died Saturday in a Los Angeles gym after a workout, Big Swell Entertainment CEO Andy Horwitz told The Hollywood Reporter. He recently joined the production company that had launched in October.
“Everyone that had the pleasure to know Stephen Emery is heartbroken over the sudden loss of one of our own,” Horwitz said in a statement. “Stephen was much more than an invaluable producer, he was also an irreplaceable friend. His passion for film was outweighed only by his passion for life, and he lived every day like it was his last. We will miss his adventurous spirit, his loyal friendship and his genuine love for life. Rest in peace, brother.

Fairly early in “Killerman,” , writer-director Malik Bader (“Cash Only”) more or less announces that he’s seen every gritty ‘70s crime drama that you have, and maybe a few that you missed, and he’s intent on distilling the down-and-dirty essence of those blasts from the past in a derivative yet dynamic mashup. In other words, he gives you fair warning, and he’s true to his word.
Liam Hemsworth stars as the aptly named Moe Diamond, a dark prince of New York’s diamond district, a smooth operator who, within the space of an hour or two on a typical afternoon, can translate huge quantities of a client’s illicit cash into expensive commodities, and then into a fistful of cashier’s checks. When we first see Moe, he and good buddy Bobby “Skunk” Santos (Emory Cohen) are poised to score a cool million each by discreetly moving money...

Liam Hemsworth takes a machete stab at playing a furious antihero in writer-director Malik Bader’s testosterone-soaked crime thriller “Killerman,” a movie made by men, about simplistically ruthless men, aimed to entice other men aching for those manly outdated movies “they don’t make anymore,” where distorted alpha masculinity was solely portrayed through vicious violence, gratuitous sex, and impenetrable coldness.
Tired of the minimal cut they receive from money laundering in NYC, gracelessly ambitious Skunk (Emory Cohen) and well-groomed hustler Moe (Hemsworth) plan to make their own big move buying cocaine for cheap with money that belongs to Skunk’s uncle, an archetypical kingpin played by Zlatko Buric (“Teen Spirit”). Cohen leans heavily on a thick New York accent, while Hemsworth builds his drug dealer swagger with flamboyant shirts and a nonchalant walk.

"You opened us up to this, you will finish it." Blue Fox Entertainment has debuted an official trailer for the indie action thriller Killerman, the latest from director Malik Bader. This twisted, gritty crime thriller is about a guy named Moe Diamond, who wakes up after a car accident without any memory of who he is. His colleague reminds him that he is a money launderer, and they're in trouble because some bad cops tried to set them up with dirty money. Now they all want him dead so he goes on the run in NYC. Liam Hemsworth stars as Moe, with Emory Cohen, Diane Guerrero, Suraj Sharma, Mike Moh, and Zlatko Buric. This has pretty much every last bad crime flick trope stuffed in - including awful grainy, out-of-focus footage and even a sniper guy with a big ass gun (but why?). This film looks Doa. Here's the first...

When last we heard from Cash Only's Nickola Shreli, he and director Malik Bader were preparing to give Liam Hemsworth a hard time in Bader's upcoming thriller Killerman. And while we fans of his cult favorite Cash Only would like to see Shreli back in the writer's chair whipping up another good script we are pleased hes filling the time with more roles. This time, flipping the moral coin to play a good guy, Shreli has joined the cast in a supporting role to Aaron Eckhart and Courtney Eaton in director Steven C. Miller’s real time thriller Live. The script, by Jeremy Drysdale, tells of a disgraced cop (Eckhart) who is racing against time to find the police commissioner’s kidnapped daughter after killing...

An arson insurance scam attempt gone tragically wrong leaves low-rent criminal Elvis Martini (Nickola Shreli) with little to hold onto besides his young daughter Lena (Ava Simony) in Cash Only. Unfortunately, he also has little to provide her despite two years having passed since the incident. Money woes mount as Albanian bookies who’ve given him the benefit of the doubt for too long seek what’s owed and the bank threatens to foreclose on his five-unit apartment complex—his only means of income (when his tenants pay). He and Lena have four weeks to procure funds before they’re on the streets so the drive to squeeze his squatters for rent intensifies until Elvis’ surveillance cameras expose how one resident is stashing more than enough cash to ease his struggle for good.

After 23 unbelievable, uninterrupted days of screenings, today marks the Closing Night of the 19th edition of the Fantasia Film Festival. There is always a sadness lingering in the air on the last day. I often compare it to the feeling you get as a kid on the final day of summer camp. You get to spend an entire month with a group of friends from around the world knowing you might not have the opportunity to see some of these people again for an entire year. Known worldwide as North America’s longest-running genre film festival, Fantasia is special because of the people who not only make it happen but also for those of us who choose to spend the beautiful hot summer days crowded inside a gloomy theatre to watch movies we might not have the chance to see otherwise. And for the sixth consecutive year, the event succeeded...

Crush is definitely the Swim_fan of the current “CW” generation of horrors. It’s a story that’s been seen again and again, whether in big screen adaptations such as The Roommate or made for teevee Lifetime over the top presentations, it’s a pretty worn out plot line. Luckily for Malik Bader and cast, they manage to breathe a little bit of fresh air into the horror trope and present an entertaining teen thriller.

After an accident and surgery, Scott is training himself back up to speed when people around him start getting harassed, injured, and a number of other things that jump the scale of danger in every scene.
