Had a daughter named Lada Artashonova with his now widowed wife Kristina Ruban.
In January 2015 he was attacked with the purpose of robbery. Then he was taken to hospital with a concussion and multiple injuries. For three days he was in a coma, lost a lot of blood. On July 18, 2015 he died from thrombosis aged 51.
