Scott A. McGillivray
- Actor
Scott got his start in acting by performing in stage productions with
Regina Little Theatre and the musical company Regina Summer Stage.
Productions such as "A Man for all Seasons", "Blithe Spirit" and "The
Sound of Music" gave him great experience and appreciation for the art
of acting and singing. He was later granted an opportunity to try his
hand at TV and movie acting. With this increased experience along with
his passion for film, Scott was able to land a few exciting roles
working along side the likes of John Rhys Davies, Judd Nelson, Vinnie
Jones and Casper Van Dien, all of whom he has been a huge fan of over
the years. Scott has also been fortunate enough to get several speaking
roles in the Canadian hit TV comedy "Corner Gas" as well as "Moccasin
Flats" and "Renegadepress.com." He took an acting class with legendary
acting coach Warren Robertson and received high praise. With Warren's
encouragement, Scott moved West to Vancouver to pursue acting
full-time. On May 29, 2009 Scott was involved in a near-fatal
motorcycle accident. He was cut off by a truck and crashed his Victory
Jackpot motorcycle. He sustained 9 shattered ribs, broke his shoulder
blade and had many other smaller injuries. What nearly killed him was
that he tore is descending aorta. This has a 80-98% fatality rate. He
was rushed to the hospital where he underwent an intensive 8 hour open
heart surgery to repair the damage. He survived and now has a 4" length
of artificial material for his aorta and some impressive scars.
Recovery was difficult, but he managed to overcome the pain and trauma
with the help of his wife and family. He has landed a few small roles
in Vancouver since the accident and is looking to achieve much more in
the coming years.
