A massive phone bank, being billed as the “largest phone bank ever,” is being organized for Harris on Tuesday by Jamie Patricof and Rep. Eric Swalwell. With less than 24 hours to go before Election Day, the Harris-Walz campaign has released a new video narrated by Viola Davis.

Titled “Mother,” the 90-second spot begins with the Oscar winner telling the story of Harris’ mother Shyamala Gopalan Harris. “Something cracks open inside you when you become a mother,” Davis says. “You realize long after you’re gone, these children will be your legacy.”

As a photo of Shyamala is shown, Davis says, “This mother came to America at 19 years old. She stood five-feet tall, but she stood tall, becoming a cancer researcher, birthing two daughters – Kamala and Maya. And with them she birthed her legacy.

The events, which will also feature Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, are part of a series of simultaneous organizing efforts the Harris-Walz campaign is spearheading in all seven battleground states.

Both rallies will be tied together in a produced national livestream to reach voters across the U.

After portraying a negligent, demon-possessed mom in The Deliverance, Andra Day will be back onscreen in a more protective motherly role in Exhibiting Forgiveness, the directorial debut from artist Titus Kaphar, set for theatrical release Oct. 18.

There was no need to worry that Reba McEntire might mess up or bring any unnecessary flourishes to “The Star-Spangled Banner” when she performed the National Anthem prior to the Super Bowl on Sunday evening. Unlike anyone else who’d done it prior to the Bowl or any other major NFL game in recent memory, she brought a full half-century’s experience of singing the anthem to the occasion.

The year 2024 marks a special anniversary for the country superstar and her association with the song: She is often said to have been “discovered” 50 years ago when she sang it at the 1974 National Finals Rodeo in her home state of Oklahoma, when she was just 19.

McEntire’s latest rendition of the anthem was more fully orchestrated than some other recent versions — or even her own past readings — have been, with a pre-recorded horn section sending the song toward a big climax.

The last time Sean Combs’ music competed at the Grammys, a then-unknown Mark Zuckerberg had just created Facebook, Nipplegate occurred at the Super Bowl and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King garnered a record-tying 11 Oscars. It was 2004, and Combs, aka Diddy, won best rap performance by a group or duo — his third Grammy — for the thumping hit “Shake Ya Tailfeather,” featuring Nelly and Murphy Lee. The stacked lineup of guest performers marking the end of the season on May 21 also includes TLC, Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard, James Blunt, Jelly Roll, Kevin Cronin from Reo Speedwagon, Kylie Minogue, Lainey Wilson and Lauren Daigle.

As previously announced, Keith Urban, who served as a judge on the competition show Seasons 12-15, is set to serve as a mentor for the remaining three finalists before he hits the stage for his own performance. As American Idol gets ready to crown its Season 21 winner, a star-studded cast has been lined up for the night of celebration set to take place on Sunday, May 21. The three-hour finale episode is set to air live from coast to coast starting at 8 p.m. Et/ 5 p.m. Pt.

During tonight’s episode, Ryan Seacrest announced the guest of performers that will appear on stage the night the winner gets announced. As previously announced, Keith Urban will return to the show to mentor the Top 3 finalists. The producer-songwriter-rapper-entrepreneur announced Wednesday that Jazmine Sullivan, Maren Morris, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Clipse, Wu-Tang Clan, Kid Cudi, Latto, Lil Durk, Summer Walker, Lil Yachty, Machine Gun Kelly and Coi Leray will also perform at the three-day event from April 28-30 in Virginia Beach. YouTube will livestream the entire festival.

Pharrell launched Something in the Water, an art, music and cultural festival, in 2009. This year’s event will also include a pop-up church service. The lineup will be announced at a later date.
