Rene Eller is a Dutch director and producer who lives in Amsterdam. He started out as a casting director for Dutch television and the Dutch advertising business. During the period MTV was introduced in Europe he started directing music videos. Fairly soon, he managed to se- cure a place for himself within the then fledgling scene of music video makers.
He started Czar Films, that grew into one of the largest commercial production companies. His work as a music video and commercial director has won him several awards: ADCN lamps, British D&AD Awards, two New York Clio awards, a German ECHO award and a Lion and a Palme d'Or for commercials at the Cannes Advertising Festival. Rene Eller worked for Propaganda Films in the United States, where he was part of a passionate group of established directors.
In 2018 he premiered his first feature film called "WE" at IFFR Rotterdam. An adaptation of the eponymous, controversial novel 'Wij' by Elvis Peeters. "WE" was awarded 'Best Director' at the 2018 Raindance Film Festival.
