It was exactly 20 years ago on January 26, 2003, when Jimmy Kimmel left Comedy Central and came to network television to host ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’
Kimmel expressed his gratitude to everyone who has helped make the show what it is today and walked down memory lane to show how long he’s been on the airwaves.
“Thank you. I appreciate that,” Kimmel said, as he was met with thunderous applause from his studio audience. “I’m not retiring. This is just an anniversary show.”
Kimmel joked that his late-night show was an instant hit after reading reviews after the show first debuted in 2003.
“And right out of the gate – we were an immediate hit,” Kimmel said. “The next day ‘The New Yorker’ said… ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live,’ a dead on-arrival talk show with a charisma-free host.'”
Kimmel continued, “The Seattle Post-Intelligencer raved… ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live,’ is a gloopy mess. Not an interesting,...

We're just days away from the Primetime Emmys, which air Sunday at 8 p.m. Et on ABC, and as we did last year, we have a bit of last-minute advice for the Emmycast's host. This time it's Jimmy Kimmel, ABC's late-night guy, who's on a roll after the alphabet network announced that "Jimmy Kimmel Live" would be moving to 11:35 in January.
Kimmel's a pretty experienced host, so this assignment might not be as daunting for him as it might have been for Jane Lynch last year. But if Jimmy were coming to us for some tips (and we're sure he's eager to hear what we have to say), here are some dos and don'ts we think he should adhere to.
Do keep your snarkiness intact. Kimmel's really good at what we like to think of as gentle edginess; he can easily drop a devastating line and do it in...

Some people will do anything for a good cause -- even watch 100 hours of TV, straight.
That's the sacrifice that three stouthearted people in Los Angeles are making this weekend to help The San Gennaro Foundation, a nonprofit created by talk show host Jimmy Kimmel that helps underpriviliged children in Los Angeles and promotes Italian culture. (San Gennaro is the patron saint of Naples, Italy.)
As part of the foundation's 10th Annual Precious Cheese Feast of San Gennaro Los Angeles, three couch potatoes are attempting to break the current world record for most consecutive hours spent watching TV.
The current record is 86 hours, 6 minutes and 41 seconds, set between Dec. 2 and Dec. 6, 2010, by Kevin Coon, Farris Hodo and Victor Lopez, who sat through the first 5 seasons of "24."
But couch potatoes Greg Durfee, 48, Jackie Haigh, 42, and Raymond Garcia, 28, hope to set a new record by watching 100 hours straight of Italian-themed movies and TV shows,...

If you pay attention to latenight TV at all, you probably know that Uncle Frank, a fixture of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" from the very first episode, passed away recently. Frank Potenza was a retired New York cop and Kimmel's actual uncle, as opposed to those friends of your parents whom you call uncle. He was also that rare breed on television: a truly genuine person. Many people on TV - whether on scripted shows, quasi-scripted reality TV or talk shows - are working as some kind of character, whether it's one that's in a script, that a reality producer encouraged you...

Jimmy Kimmel has paid tribute to his late Uncle Frank. Frank Potenza passed away from cancer on August 23 at age 77, while Jimmy Kimmel Live was on hiatus. Kimmel returned to the airwaves last night and opened up the program by honoring Potenza's life. The comic admitted it was very hard to discuss his uncle's death by saying: "Listen, I'm gonna try to do this without crying, but I'm probably gonna fail." Kimmel recalled Potenza's long career as an NYPD officer, joking: "His plan was to live to 103. He wanted to be the oldest living retired New York city police officer - not because he wanted to set a record or anything - he just wanted to stick them for another 25 years (more)...

Get ready for your mid-morning cry sesh, folks. Jimmy Kimmel made an emotional return to his late night show last night following the death of his beloved Uncle Frank Potenza on August 23rd. Frank had been a mainstay on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! since it’s debut back in 2003, often acting as the most hilarious part of the comedy sketches. And like a good nephew, Jimmy paid a touching a teary tribute to his uncle in the opening monologue. And it will have you crying harder than Beaches and My Girl combined.
“Listen, I’m gonna try to do this without crying, but I’m probably gonna fail,” he told the audience. “But just turn away or something, because it’s embarrassing. It really is.” He then launched into his favorite Frank anecdotes, including the former police man’s desire to live to 103 and become to oldest retired cop on record.

When you work the long hours of something like a TV show, the people you work with become your family. However, for Jimmy Kimmel, one of his regulars already was. For nearly nine years, fans of Jimmy Kimmel Live! were entertained by Kimmel's "crazy uncle" Frank Potenza, known to audiences simply as Uncle Frank. A month ago, Potenza died of cancer at the age of 77 and, last night, a tearful Kimmel presented a moving tribute to the man showing some of his best moments over the years.

Jimmy Kimmel's late Uncle Frank Potenza may be gone, but he's certainly not forgotten. Last night on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' Kimmel gave an emotional, tearful tribute to his uncle, who passed away August 23 at the age of 77.
Potenza, known on the show simply as Uncle Frank, was a constant presence on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' where he worked as a security guard, commentator and occasional red carpet interviewer. He was a willing, good-natured participant in the show's comedy bits and was always smiling, even when he was the butt of a joke.
Kimmel fought through tears -- and cracked a few jokes -- during a monologue that eulogized his beloved uncle. He remembered his Uncle Frank as a New York City cop of 20 years who only made six arrests, a man who would always show up 12 hours early for anything,...

It was a roller coaster of emotions on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight. Jimmy Kimmel had tweeted earlier today, "thanks to all for the nice tweets about my Uncle Frank - we'll pay tribute tonight with his favorite guest @DonRickles," in regards to the death of his security guard and sidekick on the show, his uncle Frank Potenza, who passed away two weeks ago. Let the countdown begin!
On Sept. 23, All My Children‘s final broadcast episode will air on ABC. Thankfully, SOAPnet has announced plans to honor the daytime institution with a two-day, 12-episode marathon of AMC‘s most memorable hours.
For starters, relish in the wonder that is Erica Kane on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 7/6c, with a mini-marathon titled “I Love Lucci.” The five back-to-back episodes (one from 1979!) include Erica’s fairy tale wedding to Jack (one of their trips down the aisle, anyway), her daughter Bianca’s difficult coming out, and the realization that she might in fact be a pill addict.

Out doing the Drive Angry rounds, writer/director team Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer have dropped some hints about their upcoming Hellraiser rejig. And while the word on everyone's lips so far has been "remake" (along with "why?"), it seems that may not actually quite be the case.Clive Barker's 1986 original focused on Kirsty Cotton, her stumbling upon the puzzlebox that summons the demon Cenobites, and the deal she made with them regarding her murdered father and her dastardly Uncle Frank. It was, says Farmer, "a very personal story, and a difficult one to re-tell." "To go in and tell the story of Frank and the family wouldn't be right," continues Lussier. "What we pitched at Dimension was a different angle. We're keeping it within the world of the box: what the box is and what the box does. We'll go into that same world, but see things we...

Thanksgiving is about eating and family. It.s the only holiday entirely clear cut. Christmas has presents and Easter has church, but the quality of Thanksgiving is entirely proportional to the quality of food and conversation at the table. Some people love it, others hate it, but most of us seem to think it.s a little awkward. How drunk will Uncle Frank get? Will Grandma burn the turkey? Why does Cousin Walter.s new girlfriend look like a younger version of his mom? These are the questions of highest importance at Thanksgiving. It.s no surprise people rarely remember the ones that go off without a hitch. Looking back, it.s the awful, sit there in stunned silence ones that I truly remember. The same thing could be said about movie scenes. We rarely remember the filmed dinner scenes that went well. No one talks about the last scene...

It looks like N.D. Wilson's children's fantasy book series trilogy 100 Cupboards, Dandelion Fire, and The Chestnut King are going to find their way up on the big screen. Beloved Pictures has acquired the rights to the series, which were all released by Random House.
The trilogy chronicles the incredible journeys of Henry York, who discovers that the old Kansas farmhouse he calls home harbors mysterious cupboards leading to worlds and dangers beyond his imagination. Surrounded by his quirky Uncle Frank and lovable Aunt Dotty, along with cousins Henrietta, Penelope, and Anastasia, Henry discovers his true self in the struggle against the deathless and once-imprisoned evil he has unwittingly unleashed into the worlds.
Beloved Pictures CEO Michael Ludlum had this to say,
This is truly one of the most outstanding works of fiction our company has ever had the pleasure to read, Wilson is an incredible writer with an imagination that knows no bounds.

Sure, Anamika Veeramani correctly spelled the word "stromuhr" to win the Scripps National Spelling Bee. But Jimmy Kimmel and his staffers tested the bee queen again -- this time adding some confusing pronunciation to the mix.
The spelling bee panel on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12:05Am Et on ABC) included "Uncle Frank" Potenza and Guillermo Rodriguez, the latter in a bee costume. Guillermo's Spanish pronunciation of the word "juxtaposition" meant the more difficult job for Anamika was to first figure out the word she had to spell.
When asked to use it in a sentence, he said, "Yu-hut-ta-poz-i-tee-on is a really long word." And when she sweetly inquired as to whether someone else on the panel could pronounce the word, Jimmy replied, "Guillermo is the only official pronouncer."
So did the 14-year-old figure it out? Check out the video clip.

I'm tempted to make fun of this because you never hear the words "Mike Tyson" and "pigeons" together in the same sentence. But then again, I really like the layout of my face and it would be a shame if someone like Tyson were to mess it up.
Animal Planet has announced that Tyson will have his own reality show in which he races his flock of trained pigeons against a series of professional competitors.
For those who aren't in the know, Tyson has had a lifelong obsession with training and caring for birds. In the video below, he takes Jimmy Kimmel's Uncle Frank on a tour of his bird sanctuary.

It's been only six months since we launched Lists Of Doom here at Fangoria Musick, and here we are with the 25th installment!
For the quarter-mark, we've got Jason McGuire, better known to metal fans as "Evil J", bassist/backing vocalist for one of my favorite bands, Otep. Currently touring in support of their recently-released album Smash The Control Machine, J took time out to share the details on his ten favorite fright films. J said it was hard to choose just ten, but we were able to get it narrowed down.
Here's Evil J's List Of Doom...
1. Creepshow (1982) Dir. George A. Romero
A childhood favorite. I've watched this movie every year on my birthday since I was 10. It is the greatest collection of short horror stories ever. It made me hate cockroaches and I never wanted to look under the stairs, but it is all good, because it’s Father’s Day,...

Okay, buckle up because you could be here for a while watching videos, perusing pictures and taking in casting, directing and production gossip from all corners of the globe. I even have four separate DVD/Blu-ray-related mentions in this one along with a fake trailer, a new clip and a behind-the-scenes explosion. Let's get started! Production Weekly reports the following: "Lionsgate is developing a remake of the 1987 classic Dirty Dancing, from a new script by Julia Dahl." [Production Weekly] International Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe sales sheets The above image was sent in by a reader for the German releases of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra. Entertainment Weekly posted Quentin Tarantino's list of "20 Movies -- and Posters -- You've Got to See!" I have listed the films below, click here to browse the list one pain-in-the-ass page at a time. Coffy...

It's all but officially stamped by Paramount Home Video that the newly reimagined Star Trek will arrive on home video come November 17. The movie will be available as a three-disc Blu-ray, a two-disc DVD with loads of extra features and a single-disc film that will include a director's commentary track by J.J. Abrams.
There will also be a gimmicky feature on the cover for the disc. Called "augmented reality," when you hold up the cover to the Star Trek DVD in front of your computer's webcam you will be treated to an interactive hologram-like image on your screen. By turning your hand you will be able to move the image and tour five different rooms onboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, as well as engage enemies in a space battle.
While the arrival date is known, it's less clear what kind of extra material will be on the two-disc and three-disc sets.

He taught you to tie your shoes and ride a bike, and now he’s chasing you around the house with an axe.
Such is fatherhood.
In celebration of Father’s Day, we have gathered our top ten favorite horror movies dads. Without further adieu-
10- Vincent Cassel as Joseph in Sheitan (2006)
While at the Club Styxx on Christmas Eve, a group of kids run into a shepherd named Joseph and his pregnant wife. But something is peculiar about this sinister dad-to-be and it isn’t just the sting of symbolism slapping you in the face.
9- Jim Siedow as the Old Man in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
This twisted gourmet father is a well simmered blend of Emeril Lagasse and Jeffery Dahmer, with a dash of that redneck “squeal like a pig guy” from Deliverance. Bake at 350 and lets put an apple in that pretty mouth of yours.

Well, congratulations. It’s Mother’s Day, and you’re playing on the Fangoria website instead of calling your poor mother. But why should you worry? I mean she only fed you, clothed you, and let you know when you were slouching. You just go on about your day, and don’t worry about your poor mother.
Hopefully, you are now feeling sufficiently guilty and are currently handcrafting the world’s largest and most extravagant Mother’s Day card. But before you head down to the craft store for a crate of construction paper and a wholesale bag of pipe cleaners, lets reflect on that special breed of celluloid madre, the horror mother.
May we present our count of the top 10 horror mothers:

It’s unsurprising that this little gem got picked up at last years Sundance as it has the all-round warmth to surely reach any faction of the audience. Now a Best Picture hopeful at the Oscars, Little Miss Sunshine has matured from indie arthouse flick to widely acclaimed pic and, whilst I wouldn’t go as far as to say Oscar-worthy, it’s certainly deserving if its praise.
Little Miss Sunshine is essentially a road trip film, and one which has packed its bags of charm for the journey. We follow the dysfunctional (but stubbornly objective) Hoover family as they make the several-hundred mile trek from Albuquerque, New Mexico, to none other than the sunshine state of California, home of every aspiring young girl’s American Dream. Their goal is the Little Miss Sunshine pageant, the crown of which young Olive Hoover (Abigail Breslin) dreams of winning.

We went to the round table interviews for Choke today and asked Brad William Henke (October Road, Dexter) about his role in the upcoming Star Trek film. He says he’s playing Kirk’s dad, but I think he meant uncle. (His role is listed as “Uncle Frank”) His co-star Sam Rockwell (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy might have been distracting him a bit. Here’s what they said: Brad William Henke: I am playing Captain Kirk’s… Sam Rockwell: Boyfriend? Bwh: (laughs) alcoholic, abusive father when he was a kid. Sr: Seriously? Bwh: So because of me, he runs away and ends up joining… Sr: (doing a pretty good Shatner imitation) Does...he...talk...like...this?...
