Born into a small family in Ultrecht Netherlands, Drexel Mirabel
followed the family trade of sheepherding until his late teens, when he
discovered his passion for cinema. He studied film from all over the
globe, and began to learn the necessary tools involved in the
production of a film. At the age of 22, Drexel was discovered by
American filmmakers who were shooting a documentary on The Sheepherding
Trade in Europe. After interviewing Drexel, they became fast friends,
and Drexel accompanied the filmmakers back to America. He studied
digital filmmaking and editing at NYU, then made his way to South
Carolina, where he edited his first movie, Ankle Biters, for director
Adam Minarovich.
Drexel now lives on a farm in South Carolina, with his wife, 2 sons, and livestock, which takes up a lot of his time. Sheepherding is still his first love, and he plans on teaching the trade via a series of videos he is self producing.
