C3 Entertainment, rights holders to "The Three Stooges" slapstick comedy brand, continue to develop the feature "The Three Little Stooges", starring young teens, who will hit each other with hammers and poke each other in the eyes, as the original 'Curly Howard', 'Larry Fine' and 'Moe Howard':
After a nation-wide casting call, Luke Clark has been cast as 'Little Curly', Liam Dow as 'Little Larry' and Gordy Destjour as 'Little Moe'.
Screenplay for the live-action feature is written by Harris Goldberg ("Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo") and Sean McNamara ("Even Stevens").
"Keeping 'The Three Stooges' legacy alive for new generations is vital for the franchise," said C3 Entertainment.
"We are excited to bring 'The Three Little Stooges' to life to entertain kids, families and our global fan base..."

The mega-successful Chinese franchise about a mismatched detective duo tackling baffling crimes in foreign destinations continues with a wildly uneven caper set in Tokyo. With performances, plotting and visuals amped up to 11 as per usual, this hyperactive combination of Sherlock Holmes-type sleuthing and Three Stooges-style slapstick comedy offers plenty of zany fun, but the central murder-mystery contains so many convoluted diversions, digressions and detours it makes the whole enterprise play like a long stream-of-consciousness sketch with a glaringly hollow core.
A smash hit domestically after opening on Feb. 12 in the Chinese New Year season, “Detective Chinatown 3” has grossed $667 million in the three weeks since. U.S. distributor Warner Bros. Pictures has yet to announce specific release details following the Covid-19 enforced postponement of the film’s planned global rollout on January 24, 2020. Hard to imagine, but it’s 25 years ago today that Paramount released Tommy Boy, the road-trip comedy that featured the best representation of the movie star potential of Chris Farley. Paired with Saturday Night Live castmate and close friend David Spade, Farley’s athleticism and physical comic ability was used to maximum effect in a career cut way short as a life of excess caught up to him and he died at age 33 in 1997. Only two years after his breakout performance. Here, director Pete Segal recalls the unforgettable experience of working with him.

“Jojo Rabbit” dares to be a slice of Third Reich hipster whimsy about an awkward lad and budding 10-year-old Hitler youth (Roman Griffin Davis), whose faithful imaginary companion is none other than a rather buffoonish iteration of Der Fuhrer himself. As played by the dark satire’s half-Jewish writer/director Taika Waititi in khaki pantaloons and askew mini-mustache, this demented dictator starts out as a goofy father substitute who encourages Jojo to be a good Nazi as he struggles to learn such skills as killing rabbits and throwing a grenade – an act that ends rather badly. But by the end, this alt-world Adolf grows resentful that his reign in the real life has come to an end while Jojo literally gives the hateful being the heave-ho and banishes him from his life forever.

The Best of The Three Stooges
DVD
Time-Life
1934 – 1959 / 1.33:1 / Over 45 Hours (!)/ Street Date – June 6, 2018
Starring Moe Howard, Curly Howard, Larry Fine, Joe DeRita
Cinematography by Benjamin Kline, Gert Andersen, Ray Cory
Directed by Jules White
Garden variety slapstick has always been fraught with physical peril but The Three Stooges took the concept to medieval levels, their persona defined by equal parts vaudeville and the Spanish Inquisition.
With clothes seemingly hijacked from clotheslines and manners borrowed from feral raccoons, the scrappy trio were nothing if not street survivors – always on the dole or making do with hardscrabble day jobs. Their raw brand of comedy, all simmering anger and violent outbursts, was the embodiment of depression-era resentment.
Ticket buyers loved them, so much so that Columbia president Harry Cohn used them as a bargaining chip when striking deals with hungry theater owners – if exhibitors wanted The Three Stooges, they were stuck with Blondie Plays Cupid.

You can tell it’s film noir — even the cabin cruiser has Venetian blinds. Ernest Hemingway’s favorite film adaptation of his work is this uncompromised story of a good man taking a criminal course on the high seas. John Garfield is again ‘one man alone’ against the system, and the moral quicksand all but swallows up Patricia Neal, Phyllis Thaxter and Wallace Ford.

It’s usually reserved for summer, but for the next few weeks it’s “prequel” time at the multiplex. Of course summer has the “tent poles” and the “franchise” flicks, but two special cases are making a most momentous exception. In about six weeks (December 16 to be exact), film fans will all be abuzz, waiting to journey to that “galaxy far, far away” with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an action fantasy set just before the events of 1977’s much beloved Episode Four. In the meantime, we’re getting a trip back to another movie fantasy world, that of Harry Potter. Actually it’s a history of that setting where “muggles” (human beings) and magical beings mix. This new film peaks behind the pages of one of the textbooks that Harry and his class mates studied at Hogwarts School. Its title? This beloved tome is Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

The 2012 film reboot by the Farrelly's wasn't a big hit, so "The Three Stooges" brand owners C3 Entertainment is trying a different angle of attack - this time with a youthified prequel.
A casting search is now underway for a trio of 12-year-olds to play child versions of Moe and Curly Howard and Larry Fine in "The Three Little Stooges".
Harris Goldberg ("Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo") has penned and is attached to direct the film which isn't going to be an origin story, but rather an original story with the trio for family audiences.
Arc Entertainment will distribute the project and the hope is it will lead to a potential franchise. Filming is scheduled to begin this summer in Vancouver.
This project is separate to the proposed sequel to the 2012 film which is said to still be in development.

In the world of comedy certain talents stand out as heavyweights, both literally and figuratively. Large of both frame and talent very often these talented performers can seem more like a force of nature running amok in the mundane world, creating comedic chaos for our amusement.
The first that comes to my mind would have to be Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle, his name forever tarnished with a scandalous incident that was proved in court never to have happened, Fatty Arbuckle deserves better. He was genuinely talented, a series of dvd releases proves it. He taught Buster Keaton everything he knew. He was also incredibly funny.

The legendary movie palace The Redford Theatre in Detroit presents a Three Stooges film festival this weekend. Here is the press release:
It’s October and Halloween is only a few weeks away. What better way to start getting ready for that scary holiday than a “Three Stooges Horror Festival”? Join us this weekend for a few frights and loads of hilarity as the Stooges roll through six of their spookiest shorts. “Mummy's Dummies” finds the boys selling used chariots in ancient Egypt (and not quite on the up and up). Soon they find themselves appearing in front of King Rootentootin, (a large and rotund Vernon Dent). Hilarity follows. Strangely, in another one of our features, “We Want Our Mummy”, we find the Stooges back in Egypt several centuries later, looking for the mummy of that same King Rootentootin — who is discovered to be a midget. Go figure. That latter...

We’ve reviewed every summer movie season since 1980 to find out which are the best, and which are the worst. Last week we posted our picks for the worst, and here we post our picks for the best.
2015 and 2016 may just be the most overthetop summer movie seasons yet. It seems like nearly every movie slated for a summer 2015 or 2016 release is heavily anticipated. Because of these impending summers of movie awesomeness, we’ve decided to take a look back at summer movie seasons of years past. The idea of the summer movie season is currently in full swing, but it didn’t catch on immediately. Hollywood had to do its fair share of experimenting to determine what types of films would be most successful. As a result, some summer movie seasons have been better than others. We’ve reviewed them all for you and ranked them from worst to best.

Another lifetime ago, Jim Carrey was set to star in a modern Three Stooges movie, presumably running on his side and slapping himself as Curly Howard. As we all know, the Farrelly Brothers film got put through the development blender and came out on the other side an equally foolish yet watered down project. A devolution from bizarrely fascinating experiment to Dtv-esque. Watching the Dumb and Dumber To trailer, it’s hard not to imagine that the Farrellys should have stuck with the stooges they knew all along. The smart idiocy, the “Whose On First?”-ism, the delightful pratfalls. They’ve essentially made their third Stooges movie. Their second featuring The Two Stooges. Their stooges. Obviously a lot of real life got in the way of getting a sequel to Harry and Lloyd’s original adventure (which was also the Farrellys original adventure in feature filmmaking), and a decades-later sequel will almost always feel like creatives heading...

Over a year has passed since Zookeeper, so the multiplexes are overdue for another family friendly comedy from Kevin James. Since his TV sitcom ” The King of Queens ” ended James has been a matinee fixture going back to Paul Blart: Mall Cop in 2009. And he’s now firmly established as a member of Adam Sandler’s staple of film stars ( along with Sandler’s old SNL buddies ) as either a headline or supporting player ( in Grown Ups and its upcoming sequel ) or lead. Since Sandler went for the more adult audiences with last Summer’s under-performing That’S My Boy, James is being sent in to scoop up the pre-teen box-office bucks. The new flick, Here Comes The Boom, is an odd mix of subjects. He’s a teacher, so he can have cute interactions with some youngsters. But a good deal of it is set in the ultra-violent world of mixed martial arts competitions.

The Redford Theatre in Detroit announces a Three Stooges Film Festival this weekend:
The Redford Theatre is happy to present another "Three Stooges Festival" for your laughing pleasure this weekend. We've selected six of the their funniest shorts featuring Curly, Moe, and Larry, for a total of 2 hours of hilarious slapstick comedy. In "Three Little Pigskins," watch for a very young blonde Lucille Ball in one of her earliest movie roles. Note that the teams shown on the football scoreboard are actually baseball teams -- the Cubs (Chicago), and our own Tigers. It wasn't all fun and games making this film. Curly broke a leg riding down a dumbwaiter, and Larry lost a tooth to a mis-timed punch.
Two of the slapstick routines in "Three Little Beers" were deemed to be such classics that they were incorporated in the recently released "Three Stooges" movie. The Pygmalion theme of "Hoi Polloi...

Chicago – I must admit that I approached the Farrelly Brothers’ long-delayed reboot of “The Three Stooges” with a heavy amount of trepidation. The previews were pretty atrocious and I had serious doubts that the filmmakers and the actors chosen to play the iconic title characters had any chance of capturing the spirit of the original. The fact that “The Three Stooges” works as often as it does is somewhat surprising. It’s a reasonably enjoyable family film. Far from painful but just as far from brilliant.
Rating: 3.0/5.0
It’s a shame really that “The Three Stooges” didn’t come out better because it’s easy to see how it could have worked. I’ll Never understand the decisions made to date the film, including working with the entire cast of “Jersey Shore” in multiple parts. Jokes about the iPhone and other modern references — they just don’t work. The material...

Every decade or so, one or two film makers become a major force in cinema comedies. The 1980′s saw the influence of Zaz (Aka Jerry Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and David Zucker) starting with Airplane! and Ruthless People . For the last ten years or so Judd Apatow (40-year Old Virgin) and Todd Phillips (Old School) have ruled the comedy roost. In between there’s the Farrelly brothers (Peter and Bobby), former sitcom writers who invaded the multiplexes with the big box office laugh fests Dumb And Dumber and There’S Something About Mary (which opened the gates for the return of the R-rated movie comedy). When interviewed during their salad days, the guys related their affection for a decades old comedy team and vowed to bring them back to the big screen (they even appeared on a tribute NBC-tv special hosted by their Kingpin star Woody Harrelson). After some recent under...

Let’s face it — nobody was particularly enthusiastic about the idea of “The Three Stooges.” For purists and fans of the original short films, nobody could step into the shoes (and on the toes) of Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Curly Howard. And anyone who never liked the Stooges in the first place certainly didn’t have any interest in seeing a 21st-century version of the slapstick-y physical comedians. Get ready for something more shocking than a poke in the eye: “The Three Stooges” is genuinely funny, a no-holds-barred, smart-stupid comedy that...

Well, there’s good news and bad news for The Three Stooges adaptation. The good news is the three actors who step into these legendary characters do a phenomenal job in channeling the antics of the late Moe Howard, Larry Fine, and Curly Howard. Bad news is this 92 minute slapstick show has to deal a necessary item: a cinematic plot.

One of the chief aims behind this Friday's release of The Three Stooges is to bring back to the big screen the slapstick comedy of Moe Howard, Curly Howard and Larry Fine. That's why, even though the Farrelly brothers film works as a straightforward narrative, it's divided into three segments, mimicking the shorts that made up the trio's act, which began more than 75 years ago. It's also why, when ComingSoon.net sat down to chat with the film's cast, we didn't so much speak with Sean Hayes, Chris Diamantopoulous and Will Sasso as we did with Larry, Moe and Curly, all of whom were more than happy to show off some slaps, eye-pokes and nyuk-nyuk-nyuks. We also chatted with Peter Farrelly, one half of the writing/directing sibling pair and Jane Lynch, who plays Mother Superior, a...

The Three Stooges stars Chris Diamantopoulos (Moe), Sean Hayes (Larry) and Will Sasso (Curly) are pulling out the stops to promote Friday’s opening of the Farrelly Brothers-directed comedy for 20th Century Fox. That brought them to the last night’s broadcast of WWE Raw, and a pretty funny encounter with grappler Santino Marella. The routine, complete with signature sound effects, is funnier than most of the trailers. The trio also got in the wrestling ring to vamp, harkening back to all those original Stooges shorts that sent Curly into the ring against boxers and wrestlers in shorts like the 1934 classic Punch Drunks. That’s the one where Curly became invincible as long as Pop Goes the Weasel played in the background. Those actors the Farrellys found have the Stooges voices and slapstick down so well, they can take this act on the road when all this is over. Sasso...

I must have really bad taste. In fact, I'm sure I do. Valley Girl is one of my favorite movies. And I love that horror film Bad Taste so that kind of proves it.
Let me tell you a little story: back when I was a little girl, in the 1890s, we didn't have cable on our TV. Every weekend at 12:00 noon on channel 5 was a one-hour marathon of The Three Stooges. I liked it. The Three Stooges, in case you've never condescended to watch it, showcases the misadventures of three brothers (sometimes there's a fourth) named Larry, Curly, and Moe (and sometimes Shemp). A vaudeville holdover from the 1930s, the men behind the Stooges (Moe and Curly Howard, and Larry Fine, and Shemp Howard, and then two other versions of Curly named Joe Besser and Curly Joe Derita - but those last two were just poseurs) were relatively normal,...

Possible introductory pieces of wordsmithery to lead off this post – “not worth nyuk-ing about!” or even “better than a poke in the eye!” or possibly a longer rife on the use of “just say Moe” as the film’s tagline. Yet all of those cracks at humor are rendered absolutely and starkly unnecessary by this first trailer for the Farrelly Brothers‘ The Three Stooges, which is so painfully unfunny that it makes even related humor feel useless. The Farrellys have been wanting to make a Stooges feature film for years, proclaiming it a passion project, but its journey to the screen has been filled with its own pratfalls and slams to the face – development delays and huge casting issues abounded. The film was originally rumored to star Jim Carrey, Benicico del Toro, and Sean Penn, but when they all dropped the project, other potential casting options were mentioned and reported, including...

It’s admittedly a bit jarring watching The Three Stooges in color. As a child, I became so accustomed to seeing Moe, Larry, and Curly in black and white, delivering eye-poking hijinks worthy of more than a few knee-slaps. So the Farrelly Brothers — who decided to helm April’s The Three Stooges — had an unenviable task ahead of them: Bringing Moe, Larry, and Curly up to date in a world where slapstick humor seems a bit dated.

After 15 years being stuck in development hell, the first look of the Farrelly brothers' "The Three Stooges" remake has hit the web. Showcasing its titular troublemakers, the picture shows how the movie's three leading men -- Chris Diamantopoulos, Sean Hayes and Will Sasso -- will look transformed into Moe, Larry and Curly. And, to be honest, they look pretty good.
While "MadTV" star Sasso hasn't changed too much from his typical look, both Hayes and Diamantopoulos definitely look their parts. When compared side-by-side with an image of the original three Stooges -- Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Curly Howard -- like this one, they actually look fairly spot-on.
The Farrelly brothers first spoke about trying to remake "The Three Stooges" back in 1996, but struggled to bring the project together until earlier this year. Originally the film was supposed to have the A-list cast of Sean Penn as Larry, Benicio del Toro...

Fox's upcoming The Three Stooges, a long-time dream project of comedy directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly, is an object of curiosity for me. The movie has bounced through a couple studios, and once almost rolled with a high-profile cast that included Jim Carrey, Sean Penn and Benecio del Toro. Things fell apart, and early this year the project landed at Fox. Then it moved quickly, assembling a cast that includes Chris Diamantopoulos as Moe Howard, Sean Hayes as Larry Fine, Will Sasso as Curly Howard, and Jane Lynch, Larry David (playing a nun!), Sofía Vergara, Jennifer Hudson, Stephen Collins, and Carly Craig. We've seen a few set photos and little else. Now there is a poster image of sorts, but it shies away from really revealing the new Stooges. (Even the old banner above shows more.) Check it out below. A Nike knock-off? Really? Ok, whatever Fox thinks works. We...

John Debney has been hired to score the upcoming slapstick comedy The Three Stooges. The film based on the mid-20th century comedy shorts is directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly (There’s Something About Mary, Dumb and Dumber). The movie stars Chris Diamantopolous as Moe Howard, Sean Hayes as Larry Fine and Will Sasso as Curly Howard. Sofia Vergara, Jane Lynch, Larry David, Jennifer Hudson, Craig Bierko and Carly Craig are co-starring. Mike Cerrone (Me, Myself and Irene) co-wrote the screenplay with the Farrelly Brothers who are also producing with Bradley Thomas and Charles B. Wessler. The Three Stooges takes place when the trio are dumped out as newborns at the door of an orphanage and the story follows them into adulthood. According to an interview with Peter Farrelly on EW.com, the film is structured in three acts, each a stand-alone story like the original episodes, but loosely connected.
