Responsible for finding Gabourey Sidibe for the lead role in the 2009 Oscar-winning film Precious (2009), just weeks before shooting was to begin, at an open call audition held at New York's Lehman College.

Father of two children with former companion Lee Daniels. The twins Clara and Liam, who are biologically Daniel's niece and nephew, were raised by the couple since they were three days old in the mid-1990s. They were born to Daniel's brother and his girlfriend, and were adopted by Daniels and Hopkins.

A highly prolific casting director in the industry. Having cast over 200 films, as well as the television pilots for "Roseanne (1988)" and "Sex and the City (1998)". Started as a casting intern at The Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York City.
