- Kraftwerk were always a massive influence on us. I remember after we did 'Blue Monday', Kraftwerk actually booked into the same studio to try and emulate us, which was absolutely mind blowing.
- When you find it difficult to run up the stairs you're going to find it difficult to go on a thirty-date tour.
- The thought of a bass player doing a solo album is usually deemed laughable - in fact, I was voted 'person least likely to do a solo album', just below Bez And His Twenty Tambourine Greats - so we are an object of derision.
- I'm disenchanted with the way record companies break the heart of a record and try and make it appeal to different people. If it's rock they'll try and get a poppy mix, if it's dancey they'll try and get a rock mix, and it dilutes the essence of the group.

- New Order being inducted into the UK Hall of Fame was great. I must admit, it frightened me to be sat there in such esteemed company as Black Sabbath, and to have Pete Townshend come over and say 'Well done, man, top band', was a great thing, because I love The Who.
