- Shawn originally got the idea for the first film he wrote and Co-Produced (an independent "football film" called "Hometown Legend" which won the Vision Film Festival and then sold to Warner Bros.) while playing football with some friends and hearing of a neighborhood high school player paralyzed for life during a football game.
- Shawn used to live in Robert Deniro and Harvey Keitel's building in Tribeca, New York, just a short distance from where the World Trade Center once stood. Shawn lived on the 7th floor, Harvey Keitel lived on the 9th floor, and Robert Deniro lived on the 10th floor.
- Shawn was on the Stanford University Track and Field team.
- Went undefeated as an amateur Middle-weight Boxer.
- Won a California Theater Award for his performance in the lead role of "McMurphy" (the role Jack Nicholson made famous) in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".
- Shawn won "Best Screenplay" at the Beverly Hills Film Festival.
- Shawn Hoffman won "Best Feature Screenplay" at the Los Angeles United Film Festival in 2011.
- Shawn Hoffman's book SAMSON: A Savior Will Rise, has won top awards at 7 National and International Book Festival competitions including: THE LOS ANGELES BOOK FESTIVAL, NEW YORK BOOK FESTIVAL, THE GREAT NORTHWEST BOOK FESTIVAL, HOLLYWOOD BOOK FESTIVAL, THE BEVERLY HILLS BOOK AWARD, THE PARIS BOOK FESTIVAL (an International book competition in Paris, France), and THE SAN FRANCISCO BOOK FESTIVAL.
