He attended West Virginia University, where he was one of the first black students in the School of Journalism. After earning a BA in journalism with a minor in theater, he worked for the Washington Post. He continued his studies at the DC Black Repertory Theater.
He served as president of the SAG-AFTRA New York local.
He was active in film, television, commercials, and stage works, including four Broadway shows. He was also an audio-book narrator.
