Recently Dread Central scribe Heather Wixson caught up with actor Patrick Cavanaugh to get the scoop on Transylmania and to maybe nibble a bit on the other white meat.
Heather Wixson: What can you tell us about your character, Pete?
Patrick Cavanaugh: Well, I consider Pete a lovable loser. He is a typical college dude who would rather drink and get high than go to class. He loves to hang out with his buddy Wang and basically see how much trouble they can get into.
Hw: What was it like working on the set of Transylmania? The trailers look hilarious so I was wondering if you had just as much fun making the movie as it looks like it was to shoot?
PC: We had an absolute Blast making this movie. I mean, first of all, we got to spend seven weeks in a far off land, making a...

This holiday season horror is slim, which is why we're going to have to settle for Full Circle Releasing's horror comedy Transylmania on December 5, which I'm sure non of you will see (including me). David Hillenbrand and Scott Hillenbrand's flick takes place place deep in the heart of the "cursed land" of Transylvania in a centuries-old castle, Razvan University isn't your typical institution of higher learning -- and the black leather-clad professors, three-foot-tall dean, instruction in crucifix-wielding, and topless vampiresses lurking in dark corners are just the start. Beyond the break you'll find a new clip featuring a fight for a bike. Patrick Cavanaugh, James Debello, Paul H. Kim, Tony Denman and Jennifer Lyons all star.

With tongue firmly planted in cheek, Transylmania is poised to hit theaters on December 4 from Full Circle Releasing. A teaser one-sheet, which looks like an Abercrombie & Fitch ad, has premiered today echoing, I think, the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer poster, in some respects. Directed by David Hillenbrand and Scott Hillenbrand, the film follows a motley group of college students who embark on a semester at Razvan University. Located deep in the heart of the "cursed land" of Transylvania in a centuries-old castle, Razvan isn't your typical institution of higher learning . and the black leather-clad professors, three-foot-tall dean, instruction in crucifix-wielding, and topless vampiresses lurking in dark corners are just the start. When Leslie Nielsen appeared at the Toronto Fan Expo this past weekend, it wasn't based on recognition for his popular role as Frank Drebin from Police Squad. Rather, it was to promote his latest spoof film, Stan Helsing, directed by Bo Zenga, producer of the original Scary Movie. Haven't heard of it? Well, that could be because it is going direct to DVD on October 27th. At the same time, a trailer has arrived online this week for another terrible looking horror parody called Transylmania. Directed by Scott and David Hillenbrand (National Lampoon Presents Dorm Daze), this is just basically another college frat comedy transplanted to vampire country (Romania). Stan Helsing may have the "star power" of Leslie Nielsen and Kenan Thompson, but Transylmania is the one that is apparently getting a theatrical release on December 4th. Go figure. Compare the trailers for both flicks after the jump and help...

Granted, “Transylmania”, what with its Euro-trash vampires, skanky looking Brides of Dracula, and leather-clad Musetta Vander sure are temping, but I’m reminded that it is directed by David Hillenbrand and Scott Hillenbrand, the same guys behind the Godawful “Survival Island”. Hey, maybe they’ve improved since then. One can only hope. Here’s the trailer for their latest, the comedy horror spoof “Transylmania”. Is it wrong that the whole hunchback gag had me laughing and cringing at the same time?
