Hollywood likes to pretend that it’s in a constant state of self-improvement, and that the days of blackface and Mickey Rooney as Mr. Yunioshi are far in the past. But we aren’t that far removed from Zoe Saldaña playing Nina Simone, FX casting a white British actor as a budding Middle Eastern despot in Tyrant or Catherine Zeta-Jones playing notorious Colombian drug kingpin Griselda Blanco in Lifetime’s Cocaine Godmother.

I hope we can all agree that whatever divine and legal sanctions she deserved for being, by all accounts, quite monstrous at times, Griselda Blanco did not deserve the throughly bizarro accent and makeup job that accompanied Zeta-Jones’ performance in Cocaine Godmother.

If nothing else, Netflix’s six-part Griselda is an adequate representational corrective. Colombian actress Sofía Vergara plays Blanco, with a latex job that doesn’t really make her look like Griselda Blanco, but definitely makes her look like “Not Sofía Vergara.

Mr. Mercedes has a premiere date for its third season on the Peacock streaming service. The three seasons previously aired on DirecTV's now-defunct Audience Network, and the first two seasons were released on Peacock in October. There's still no word on if the show will be renewed for a fourth season.

Based on the Bill Hodges trilogy by Stephen King, Mr. Mercedes follows a retired detective who is still haunted by the unsolved case of "Mr. Mercedes," who took 16 lives when he drove a stolen Mercedes through a line of people at a local job fair.

The cast of the adaptation includes Brendan Gleeson, Justine Lupe, Jharrel Jerome, Breeda Wool, Holland Taylor, Kate Mulgrew, Gabriel Ebert, Maximiliano Hernández, Rarmian Newton, Josh Daugherty, Claire Bronson, Brett Gelman, Bruce Dern, Glynn Turman, Natalie Paul, Patch Darragh, and Meg Steedle.

Following its initial release on AT&T Audience Network back in 2019, the entire third season of Mr. Mercedes (based on Stephen King's Bill Hodges trilogy) is coming to Peacock on March 4th, joining the first two seasons on the streaming service:

Season three of Mr. Mercedes premieres on Thursday, March 4 on Peacock. All 10 episodes will drop at once.

Mr. Mercedes may have a fourth season after all. The series, which is based on a trilogy of works by Stephen King, has been picked up by Peacock. Seasons one and two will arrive on the streaming service next month while season three will arrive at a later date.

The three seasons of the dramatic series initially aired on AT&T Audience Network. The series has been in limbo since Audience ceased operations in the spring. While Peacock has not renewed Mr. Mercedes for a fourth season, it's favorable that the streaming service has picked up the existing seasons.

The move to Peacock yields a new lease on life for Mr. Mercedes, the Stephen King adaptation crime series, which started life in 2017 as a broadcast offering on the AT&T-owned, DirecTV-exclusive Audience Network, only to be left derelict with an uncertain future after the channel’s dissolution this past January. With the move—announced on Sept. 21, King’s birthday, of all days—Mr. Mercedes Seasons 1 and 2 will be bingeable on Peacock starting on October 15. The show previously aired on Audience Network but that network was shut down by AT&T in January, leaving the show’s remaining scripted shows in limbo. “Mr. Mercedes” aired its third season late last year, with the series having received strong critical acclaim throughout its run.

As part of the deal, Seasons 1 and 2 of “Mr. Mercedes” will stream exclusively on Peacock. Both of those seasons will debut on Oct. 15 on the streamer, while the premiere date for Season 3 is yet to be determined.

Peacock has acquired crime-thriller drama series Mr. Mercedes, from David E. Kelley based on Stephen King’s bestselling Bill Hodges trilogy.

The first two seasons will premiere exclusively on the NBCUniversal streaming service on Thursday, October 15, with a premiere date for Season 3 Tbd. The announcement came Monday, on King’s birthday.

The fate of the series, which previously aired on AT&T Audience Network, had been in limbo since Audience announced in the spring that it was ceasing operations and transitioning into a preview channel for the WarnerMedia streaming service HBO Max, which is also owned by AT&T.

Tightly wound from the opening frame, Denis Villeneueve’s Sicario opens to the gripping sounds of Jóhann Jóhannsson’s gripping electronic score, as FBI agent Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) rides in an armored vehicle to an Arizona house linked with drug traffickers. Clad in full combat armor herself, as are her partner Reggie Wayne (Daniel Kaluuya) and the dozens of other agents with them. Like the viewer, Macer doesn’t know what exactly she’s getting herself into, but the foreboding look on her face as she takes deep breaths and tries to relax suggests that she has some idea of the danger lying ahead.

It comes as soon as she enters the house in the form of a brief and brutal shootout, but the worst doesn’t arrive until she and her fellow agents clear what appears to be the most imminent danger.

Chicago – Seeing the man behind the curtains in “The Wizard of Oz” really was when so many of us truly understood what “behind the scenes” means. Today, we’re fascinated by FBI and CIA stories because they grant us top-secret security clearance we’ll otherwise never have.

There’s so much talent behind the film Sicario it’s almost scary. You have a cast that includes Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin, and Benicio del Toro, along with the supremely talented director Denis Villeneuve at the helm and the legendary Dp Roger Deakins handling the cinematography. I’ve seen this movie twice in advance of its limited release this weekend and can vouch for it being excellent. In fact, it’s currently one of the ten best things that I’ve seen so far this year. 2015 still has a long way to go, but this is a memorable flick, to say the least, in no small part to the always excellent work from the legend that is Deakins. The Marvel Cinematic Universe… if you’ve just clicked into this article, it’s likely that you need little reminding of how much it changed the landscape of Hollywood. But that won’t stop us recapping for continuity’s sake. Heck, it’s what Kevin Feige would want.

It began in 2008, then, with the landmark casting of Robert Downey Jnr as Tony Stark. It’s sometimes hard to remember how much a risk that was at the time, but heck did it pay off. The movie, directed by Jon Favreau, was strong, and a huge hit. And the notion of a post-credits sting was introduced. Only one episode of The Walking Dead remains until the winter break. Season 5 has been a hell of a ride, complete with cannibals, the death of Bob, and a community held prisoners by a bunch of renegade cops. “Crossed” cuts back and forth between four groups in four different locations in order to set up the big midseason-finale. While it seems a wise decision to check back in with Rick and Michonne after several episodes spent elsewhere, the episode feels like a filler/transitional episode. There are far too many characters to follow in far too many places, and the end result feels somewhat disjointed.

A review of tonight's "The Walking Dead" coming up just as soon as I enjoy this yo-yo... After the show spent much of the fall focusing on one subset of characters at a time, "Crossed" widens the net (and gives Glenn and Rosita one to fish with) in advance of next week's mid-season finale(*). Not all the characters are together at the moment — part of Rick's group joins Daryl and Noah in the plan to rescue Beth and Carol, while Father Gabriel escapes into the woods and Abraham's group deals with the aftermath of Eugene's confession and beating — but we got glimpses of all of them as they moved into place for whatever's coming in our last episode until February 8. As Sneak Peek first reported in January, several 'good guy' characters in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", could be sleeper agents of 'Hydra', a terrorist organization in Marvel Comics, referencing the mythical 'Lernaean Hydra':

"Hail, Hydra! Immortal Hydra! We shall never be destroyed! Cut off a limb, and two more shall take its place! We serve none but the Master—as the world shall soon serve us! Hail Hydra!"

The organization first appeared in "Strange Tales" #135, headed by businessman 'Arnold Brown', who was killed as 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' tried to crush the organization. It soon returned funded by 'Baron Wolfgang von Strucker', with the support of Third Reich super-villain the 'Red Skull'.
