Her appearance in front of the camera remained rarely it the sound film era too and in Germany she only appeared in one more movie called "Meine Frau, die Hochstaplerin" (1931).

When the National Socialism arose she had to leave Germany and Austria and she emigrated via London to the USA.

She continued to live in the USA after World War II but she travelled between Europe and the USA again and again in the next years.

Else Heims appeared at many important stages, among them "Deutsche Theater", the cabaret "Schall und Rauch" and "Das kleine Theater" and she became a popular stage actress.

Her last cinematical works came in the USA into being. She impersonated only very small roles, among others a telegraph messenger in "Hotel Berlin" (1945) with Helmut Dantine, Raymond Massey, Peter Lorre and Alan Hale and a gambling woman with cigar in "The Great Sinner" (1949) with Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Melvyn Douglas, Walter Huston and Ethel Barrymore.

The actress Else Heims began her acting career at the Deutsches Theater in 1896 under Otto Brahm. There she met the later important theater maker Max Reinhardt and they got married in 1910.

Else Heims often worked together with Max Reinhardt and she was present very close when he gave distinction to the Berlin theater scene of the early 20th century.

When the relationship between Else Heims and Max Reinhardt changed for the worse and it evolved a breakup war - Max Reinhardt wanted the divorce but Else Heims was against it - she only got seldom role offers for the stage. She only acted seldom again on stage, among others for Heinz Hilpert in 1933. The marriage with Max Reinhardt became divorced only in 1935.
