On Saturday, October 22nd, 2011, the eleventh annual Screamfest Horror Film Festival Awards were held in Hollywood, California, to celebrate the ten days of original horror programming which had preceded it, most notably the China Brothers’ Crawl (which took home awards for Best Director and Best Cinematography). In many ways Trick is the perfect companion film to last week's entry My Best Friend's Wedding because it explores similar themes, the search for Mr. Right and the gay man-straight female friendship, but this time from the other perspective- that of the gay male
Trick is one of my favorite films of the nineties, and pretty much the perfect gay romantic comedy. At the core of the film is the relationship between struggling musical theatre writer Gabriel (Christian Campbell) and Go-Go Boy Mark (John Paul Pitoc), after a chance meeting on the subway. The dynamic between these two has a truthfulness to it and is thoroughly seducing. As they search the city for somewhere to hook up, what develops is sensitive and romantic. The believable grounding chemistry of Mark and Gabe allows for the excess of virtually everything surrounding them, especially...

Embrem Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights to "The Big Gay Musical," a musical comedy film directed by Casper Andreas and Fred M. Caruso starring an ensemble of Broadway actors. It plans to premiere the film, currently in postproduction, at film festivals this summer.
The cast includes Liz McCartney ("South Pacific"), Jim Newman ("Minnelli on Minnelli"), Joey Dudding ("A Chorus Line"), Marty Thomas ("Xanadu"), Andre Ward ("Xanadu"), Daniel Robinson ("Hairspray"), Jeff Metzler ("Mary Poppins"), Brian Spitulnik ("Chicago"), Josh Cruz ("Wig Out"), Celina Carvajal ("Tarzan") and Steve Hayes, one of the stars of the film "Trick."
"Though I initially was hired just to co-direct 'The Big Gay Musical,' I am thrilled to be taking on a producing role and assist in getting the film completed and distributed worldwide," said Embrem president and CEO Andreas, who is producing with Caruso, who also wrote the project.
