- Ludwig Hardt was born in Neustadtgoedens in the North-West of Germany. Shortly after, his family moved to Weener in East-Frisia, where he spend his childhood. As a teenager he lived in Berlin. After high-school he finished a three year acting school in Berlin. Later, Ludwig Hardt became one of the most prominent reciters of literature in Germany. He was an important promoter of the German author Franz Kafka and was much appreciated by other famous German authors like Kurt Tucholsky, Thomas Mann and Else Lasker-Schüler. He became professor for the art of recitation. Under the Nazi-regime he had to migrate to the USA, where he acted in various movies.
