- Cao Hamburger was born in São Paulo, Brazil. Since the 1990s, he has divided his time into film and television creations.
He has won two International Emmy Awards. In 2019, for the Young Hearts series, created and written by him. In 2014, for the series Pedro e Bianca, created and supervised by him. In 2006 he was nominated for the same award for the series Filhos do Carnaval, co-created and directed by him.
His second feature film as director and co-writer, "The Year My Parents Went on Vacation", competed in the Official Selection of the Berlin Film Festival 2007 and won more than 15 awards around the world, being sold to more from 20 countries. He was the Brazilian representative to compete for a place in a Foreign Film at the Oscars, being on the short list. His two other feature films, Castelo Ratimbum and Xingu, have also had successful careers both in Brazil and abroad.
Hamburger co-created and directed the acclaimed children's series "Castelo Ra-Tim-Bum" (1995) - which won awards worldwide, considered the best Brazilian children's series.
He produced, created and/or directed other successful series in Brazil. In 2000/01 he worked with Ragdool Contents in London.
Also in London, he was the creative director of the Flag Passing Ceremony at the 2012 London Olympics.
