Born in Asheville, NC John grew up in North Carolina playing football for two time 3-A State Champions, Walter M. Williams High School. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Marketing.
Following college, he dreamed of pursuing a film career, which took him to the movie set of "Glory", which was filmed primarily in Georgia. Through his interest of the American Civil War and hobby in living history interpretation, John began as a background artist, and was promoted to a full-time position as Stand-in for Cary Elwes, who portrayed the character Major Cabot Forbes. After having such a wonderful film making experience working more closely with cast and crew, John was inspired to move to the new developing film and television production city of Orlando. There, with limited funds and a suitcase, he answered a Help Wanted ad in the newspaper to help with the construction of the new Universal Studios. Doors began to open for John in the film industry at Universal Studios working first on the TV production, Super Force, developing a keen interest in the assistant directing/production aspect of film making. He worked his way diligently into acceptance of the Directors Guild of America as an Assistant Director. He has continued working on film, television, and commercial productions working with some wonderfully hardworking creative professionals.
Having a passion for American history and historical films, John has written and published four historical books and has been involved in historic preservation while not working on film projects.
