Rex Grignon is a Canadian-American animation director and entrepreneur, known for his work as the Head of Character Animation for DreamWorks Animation from 1995-2014.
Grignon is the CEO of Nimble Collective, a company he co-founded in 2014.
Grignon graduated from Sheridan College's esteemed animation program in 1984, followed by a Bachelor's Degree in 1985 from New York Institute of Technology.
After graduation, he worked in Europe as animator and Art Director for early 3D commercials and broadcast graphics. After moving back to the U.S. in 1988, Grignon worked as a Senior Animator for Pacific Data Images (PDI) and co-founded their Character Animation Group with Tim Johnson.
Grignon then worked with the Jim Henson Company for two years as a lead animator on MuppetVision3D and the Jim Henson Hour. In 1994, Grignon joined Pixar to animate on Toy Story. After PDI was bought by DreamWorks animation the following year, Grignon returned to the newly formed PDI/DreamWorks as the Head of Character Animation on many films, including the Shrek and Madagascar franchises.
