The sitcom "Union Square" was originally conceived as a vehicle for
Latina actress Gorham. The series' original pilot centered around Gorham
as a wacky Florida souvenir-shop worker who moved to New York and
found herself at a diner surrounded by equally-wacky characters. Before
it aired, the network and producers decided that Gorham wasn't the right
for the series, retooled it as an ensemble piece, and put Constance Marie
in Gorham's character's reduced role.
