- When he first began teaming with Ricky Morton, they needed a tag team name. They were going to call themselves the Ricky and Robert Express, but since they both liked Rock n' Roll, they decided on Rock 'n Roll Express.
- In 1990, he injured his knee and was out for at least a year. Ricky Morton began teaming with Tommy Rich. When Gibson came back he had a feud with Morton, and the two fought at the Great American Bash '92. It wasn't until late 1993 that the two began teaming again as the Rock 'n Roll Express.
