Isabella Rossellini has a strong connection with the history of Florentine fashion house Emilio Pucci.
She interpreted, in a photo shoot in 1990, the iconic Vivara print created in 1965 by Pucci and named after the island in the Gulf of Naples that inspired it. The opening of his first boutique in Capri in 1950 was already a declaration of love for the renowned archipelago overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, but it was precisely that crescent of land that captured his heart, discovering it from above while piloting his torpedo bomber during the Second World War flying over the Phlegraean islands.
At the end of the conflict, he tried to reproduce that aerial view of the island of Vivara by printing it on fabrics. Those prints immediately became the trademark of the Pucci style in the world, thanks to the numerous celebrities of the time who stopped by his boutique in Capri. From Marilyn Monroe to Jacqueline Kennedy,...

Little does she know she is placing her life in danger from an evil curse and a monster born of myth and brutal pain.
I have been a fan of Federico Zampaglione’s genre work since I saw his film Shadow in 2009. Then came the original cut of Tulpa back at Frighfest 2012. It’s safe to say I was one of the Only people who reviewed that screening and that cut positively (and then went on to review the recut just as glowingly) and saw what Zampaglione was trying to achieve.

Ahead of the UK premiere of graphic and disturbing supernatural horror film The Well at FrightFest Glasgow 2024, director Federico Zampaglione talks about returning to hardcore horror, working with the late, great Giovanni Lombardo Radice and emerging from the shadow of Italian masters of the genre.
So, Federico, The Well has its UK premiere at the Glasgow Film Festival, as part of the popular FrightFest event. Are you excited?
Frightfest is the place where everything started in 2009 and it’s one of the best festivals in the world. I can’t wait to show The Well to the UK fans.
What inspired you to make the movie?
Wanting to get back on the horror horse! I deeply love this genre, because it speaks to the human soul, investigates our unknown fears and gets lost in deep darkness whilst clinging to a blade of light. The Well pushes at the most extreme emotions,...

Principal photography recently wrapped on the film, which is co-written by its director Vincenzo Alfieri (“Mad Dog”) with Giuseppe G. Stasi, who recently made a splash in Italy as the writer and co-director of hit Amazon Prime Video series “The Bad Guy.”

The Filming Italy Sardegna Festival that kicks off Italy’s summer moviegoing season will play a prominent role in the ongoing push to lure Italians back into movie theaters, just as the country’s box office is starting to gain traction.
A robust roster of talents from Hollywood and Italy and a solid lineup of premieres are booked for this event, which combines film and TV and unspools June 22-25 in the Forte Village resort near Cagliari, capital of Sardegna (Sardinia in English). The fest is set to take place just as the Italian government starts to invest €20 million ($22 million) to promote moviegoing through a campaign called Cinema Revolution, under which cinema tickets will be half-price for a limited time.
“While in past years I struggled to find films, this time around I have 50 titles,” notes Tiziana Rocca, the marketing guru and former Taormina Film Festival chief who launched the Sardinia event six years ago.

The 69th Taormina Film Festival boasts an impressive lineup of Italian and world premieres as it seeks to reboot and re-establish its status as a date to watch on the festival circuit. Located in the historical Sicilian town – its visibility recently getting an unlooked for boost with the second season of HBO’s ”The White Lotus” – will be hosting a series of screenings. The outdoor Teatro Antico will provide a suitably antique background for the Italian premiere of “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” with Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, and Mads Mikkelsen in attendance.
The directorial debut of Italian artist Marco Perego, “The Absence of Eden,” will receive its world premiere. The film stars Perego’s wife Zoe Saldaña, Garrett Hedlund and Adria Arjona. By our count, there are over 300 characters killed in the first three "John Wick" movies, and that's not even counting this year's "John Wick: Chapter 4," which added another hundred or so deaths to the mix. As a hitman, Keanu Reeves' gun-fu-fighting protagonist inhabits a kill-or-be-killed world, and usually, he's the one carrying out the slaughter. However, one of the most brutal deaths in Mr. Wick's movie repertoire was assisted by his target.
In "John Wick: Chapter 2," Wick has to honor an old marker he swore in order to retire and marry the love of his life. He doesn't want to go through with the kill at first, and only does so reluctantly when he's threatened with expulsion from the underworld and the loss of protection he enjoys. (The guy holding that marker also blows his house up with a grenade launcher.) This leads Wick to Rome, where he...

For those who've been following along on John Wick's increasingly labyrinthine journey back into the shadowy assassin underworld, things are much different for Keanu Reeves' coldblooded killer with an affinity for dogs and muscle cars (and guns ... lots of guns) than they were when he first burst upon the scene back in 2014. The more grounded and intentionally vague original movie only ever teased the hidden dealings behind The Continental hotel and its assorted trigger-happy society of patrons, peeking out just on the edge of every frame. Since then, every sequel has dived deeper and deeper into the world-building of the "John Wick" franchise and now, well, audiences have an entire mythology to keep track of as we steamroll toward this week's release of "John Wick: Chapter 4."
While everyone owes it to themselves to either revisit or binge all three previous movies to help prepare for the gun-slinging madness...

This is the final UK title for the film originally known as The Tiger's Nest, or originally Il ragazzo e la tigre in Italian. It was shot in Nepal and Bhutan, despite being an Italian production made by an Italian filmmaker. It's described as a "live-action fantasy adventure film set in the tropical forests of Himalayas." When a tiger cub falls prey to ruthless poachers, he soon finds himself on the way to market until a young boy steps in and rescues him. Forming a remarkable bond, this boy and tiger must face impossible odds and a race against time. A heart-warming tale of love, friendship and the journey home. The "tiger's nest" he keeps referring to is a famous monastery in Bhutan called Tiger's Nest.

I didn’t enjoy Terrifier 2 very much, but I was very impressed by the performance delivered by heroine Lauren Lavera, who came off as a star on the rise – and who seemed like such a badass in her confrontation with Art the Clown, I could see her becoming a major force in the action genre, if that’s a path she’s interested in taking. As she continues on her way to stardom, Lavera has signed on to star in a supernatural thriller called The Well – and our friends at Bloody Disgusting were able to dig up some exclusive details on the project.

I’ve been a fan of the Manetti Brothers – Antonio and Marco – since the first time I saw their fantastic sci-fi horror The Arrival of Wang way back in 2012. Since then the pair have directed numerous films, including Paura 3D and the action ‘Mafia musical’ Love and Bullets. The pair also produced Daniele Misischia’s fantastic zombie film The End?, which screened at Frightfest in 2017… Why mention those films? Because all of those films have – unfortunately – faded into obscurity on these shores since debuting at films festivals here in the UK. Hopefully Diabolik, the duo’s latest film based on the classic Italian comic book anti-hero of the same name will not suffer the same fate,...

The “John Wick” movies are a series of American action thriller films that follow the story of the titular character, John Wick (played by Keanu Reeves). The first movie in the “John Wick” movie series, “John Wick,” was released in 2014 and was directed by Chad Stahelski. How many “John Wick” movies are there? The straight answer to the question is three, chapter 4 of the series is set to release next year.
The movie follows John Wick as he seeks revenge after the Russian mobsters kill his dog, given to him by his late wife. The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over 88 million worldwide.
The second movie, “John Wick: Chapter 2,” was released in 2017 and picked up right where the first one left off. In the second movie, John Wick is forced to fulfill a debt to the Italian Mafia, which puts him in conflict with some of the world’s deadliest assassins.

A slew of top-notch directors, producers and stars is set to make the trek to the fifth edition of the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival, which combines film and TV and is stepping up efforts to serve as a collective celebration of the Italian and global industry’s restart spirit.
Since Italy’s box office returns are sputtering due to audience aversion to wearing a mask in theaters, Tiziana Rocca, chief of this unique event, is adding an open-air venue with a giant screen at its main hub, the Forte Village resort near Cagliari, capital of the emerald island of Sardinia (Sardegna in Italian).
“Seeing movies in the open air is a different thrill, especially for younger audiences that have been rebelling against mandatory masks in movie theaters,” Rocca says.
Accordingly, the June 9-12 fest will open with the Italian premiere of Universal’s crowd-pleaser “Jurassic World Dominion” in its new outdoor Piazza Forte Cinema.

As Italy’s film and TV industry forges ahead after bearing the brunt of the pandemic in 2020, the Filming Italy — Los Angeles fest, which is a bridgehead between Italy and Hollywood, is pulling out all the stops to drive and promote the country’s restart effort.
After Filming Italy miraculously managed to hold its sister shindig as a physical edition on the island of Sardinia last summer, the upcoming March 18-21 Los Angeles event will be mostly online. But going virtual has just prompted Italian marketing guru Tiziana Rocca, a longtime Italian industry promoter, to double her efforts.
This year the former Taormina Film Festival general manager is serving up twice the number of titles — a selection of more than 50 features, TV skeins, docs and shorts — and a marathon medley of 25 master classes, starting with Edoardo Ponti, director of Oscar-buzzed Sophia Loren-starrer “The Life Ahead,” in conversation with Diane Warren,...

Italian musician and film director Federico Zampaglione has followed up on his well-received short movie Bianca, with an even more horrific study of Italy under lockdown – Bianca: Phase 2. Again shot on his iPad in three days and starring his ten year old daughter alongside his current partner, actress Giglia Marra, Zampagione, who created, edited and produced the film single-handedly, has cast his former wife, actress Claudia Gerini in a cameo role and, obeying lockdown rules, involved only family members in the location roles – Marco and Giula Chermaz, his cousin and nephew respectively.
Phase 2 of the Italian lockdown has begun and Bianca (Linda Zampagilone) and her mother (Giglia Marra) decide to go to the reopened local park to enjoy their new found freedom in the sun. But an evil presence is stalking them and when Bianca is kidnapped, her mother enters a nightmare world trying to find and save her daughter from a terrible danger.

The authors of Love and Bullets are adapting the adventures of the character created by the Giussani sisters for the big screen, with Luca Marinelli leading the cast. Filming began on 30 September for Diabolik, the new film by the Manetti Bros. who are bringing the adventures of the famous Italian comic book hero to the big screen, a fascinating, steely-eyed thief in black tights, created in the 60s by Angela and Luciana Giussani. “The King of Terror” (already adapted for the cinema by Mario Bava back in 1968) will borrow the face of Luca Marinelli and the beautiful Eva Kant that of Miriam Leone, while Valerio Mastandrea will slip into the shoes of Inspector Ginko. The cast also includes a handful of the Manettis’ favoured actors, such as Alessandro Roia (Song’e Napule), Claudia Gerini (Love and Bullets) and Serena Rossi. Written by Michelangelo La...

2014′s John Wick took pretty much everyone by surprise. The third in a trilogy of action movies Keanu Reeves made in 2013/4, John Wick succeeded where 47 Ronin and The Man of Tai Chi (in which Reeves played the villain) didn’t. And that’s not to say that either of those films were sub-par, far from it. However there was something about the stoic, unstoppable hitman John Wick that resonated with audiences across the globe. And so three years later we finally get a sequel.

We’ve seen one man versus an army and a man who wants to retire only to be dragged back to the fight. It’s a staple of storytelling and modern cinema so it all comes to down the execution. In fall 2014, audiences were introduced to the latest character in this celebrated model: John Wick. A surprise hit for Lionsgate, it was fairly quickly decided to make a sequel, hoping to turn this into a series which can be a challenge when the main character just wants to be left alone.
In January, Wick’s return came with John Wick Chapter 2 which offered more of the same high-octane stunts, fights, shooting, punching, and martial arts. With a stoic performance from Keanu Reeves we find ourselves rooting for the antihero as the relentless pace is sustained over two hours.

Well, how about that? Here’s another follow-up to a surprise 2014 smash. But this flick is so different from toy block caped crusaders. Still, it’s somewhat of an over-the-top crazy cartoon. Just one that’s not for the kiddies. The Matrix trilogy firmly established Keanu Reeves as an offbeat action star. Most of his flicks often had a science fiction/fantasy bent. Three years ago, he was part of a new action extravaganza that would be the ultimate gritty revenge story. That’s the original John Wick in a nutshell. A trying-to-quit ex-super assassin calls upon his old skills when his beloved companion is brutally murdered. Some thugs did in his puppy, so now they must pay. The score seemed to be settled then by the final fade-out. So what new mayhem will be revealed in John Wick: Chapter 2? Well, he sure hasn’t mellowed in those three years.

The last time Keanu Reeves made a sequel to an action movie with a huge cult following and two directors, it didn't really go well twice over. Nonetheless, John Wick wasn't exactly The Matrix, and John Wick: Chapter Two fortunately isn't The Matrix Reloaded or The Matrix Revolutions. Even so, this sequel does expose a few new cracks in the foundation of the latest Reeves franchise, whether or not it will really make any difference for its own inevitable threequel.
After tying up the last loose end of his last revenge mission, John Wick puts himself back into retirement. John Wick is back. He didn’t want to be back. But, he is.
John Wick: Chapter 2 is the sequel to the surprise movie hit in 2014’s John Wick.
Keanu Reeves reprises his role as the vengeful and determined assassin hellbent to punish who did wrong to him.
However, in the sequel, the assassins’ world significantly expanded with more lore, kung-fu, gun-fu and even car-fu.
Here’s the official synopsis:
John Wick is forced out of retirement by a former associate looking to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to aid him, Wick travels to Rome and does battle against some of the world’s most dangerous killers.
Ian McShane, Lance Riddick, John Leguizamo, Bridget Moynahan and Thomas Sadoski also returned to this sequel. The cast also expanded with Riccardo Scamarcio, Ruby Rose, Common, Laurence Fishburne and Claudia Gerini.

John Wick: Chapter 2 begins a short time after the events of the first film, with John (Keanu Reeves) now retrieving his car that was stolen at the outset. This is merely an excuse for us to see John destroy nameless thugs, and that he does. One could argue that this entire film is exactly that, and one would be right. But John Wick is so much more than just a living weapon of few words — he’s a tragic figure who has suffered deeply and can’t escape his past, with pain and frustration behind his eyes. All that he has is all that he is now, a lost soul with no purpose. After the first film, it would seem that he may be able to find a little peace now, but to quote Westworld (or Romeo and Juliet): these violent delights have violent ends. Peace is nowhere...

If you’ve seen “John Wick,” you know the legend: One time, the eponymous hitman (Keanu Reeves) killed three men in a bar with a pencil. “With a fucking pencil,” growls a Russian crime boss played by Peter Stormare in the opening minutes of “John Wick: Chapter 2,” moments before the unstoppable killing machine nicknamed “The Boogeyman” bursts through the door. Before Stormare can finish the anecdote, one of his lackeys interrupts him. “I know,” he says. “I’ve heard this one before.”
