- Gary Gero was born on February 17, 1946 in Davis, California, USA. He is known for The Last Starfighter (1984), Casino Royale (2006) and The Final Countdown (1980).
- He is the founder of Lake Forest, California's Hollywood zoological sanctuary "Birds and Animals Unlimited".
- He trained Shadow the black leopard who performed as Bagheera in The Jungle Book (1994). Scenes featuring this character were filmed on Fripp Island in South Carolina.
