- Producer

- Production Manager
Producer Jorge García Besné's greatest claim to fame is having produced
the first ever movies starring El Santo, the legendary silver-masked
Mexican wrestler. In 1958, El Santo had considered retiring from
wrestling when García Besné and Santo's wrestler, actor, and
scriptwriter friend Fernando Osés convinced him to take part in two
films shot in Havana, Cuba -- Cerebro del mal and Cargamento blanco
(the titles were later changed to Santo contra el cerebro del mal and
Santo contra los hombres infernales, when the wrestler became a major
star of Mexican cinema). The films were shot in Havana late in 1958,
just weeks before Fidel Castro overthrew the Cuban Government.
García Besné had joined the film business in the early 1950s, after marrying the daughter of Mexican film mogul Jose U. Calderon, whose sons Pedro A. Calderón, José Luis Calderón, and Guillermo Calderón were all prolific producers.
