No, the image above is not Melissa Fumero as the beloved Amy Santiago in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. In fact, the actress' new character is nowhere near being a part of law enforcement. Even though she pretends to be! That would be Fumero as Drew/Olivia in Peacock's Based on a True Story season 2, which is now streaming.
No matter what she does, Fumero brings a great element to any role. And this one is no different! In the second season of the dark comedy, the star plays Drew, who is Ava's [Kaley Cuoco] new mom friend. At first all is well and good, and she shares she's a detective. However, all of that is not true. Even the baby she says is hers is the one Drew babysits.
It turns out Drew's real name is Olivia, and she's Matt's [Tom Bateman] ex-wife. Aka the mother of his son, Ollie! Whaat? Talk about complicated.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Based on a True Story, Season 2.] Based on a True Story‘s second season was filled with twists and turns, one of which was the introduction of Drew (Melissa Fumero), a woman who befriends true-crime obsessive Ava (Kaley Cuoco). As Ava dug deeper into trying to uncover the identity of the newest serial killer galavanting around town, Drew was doing some meddling of her own. But instead of being the detective Ava thinks her to be, she is actually Olivia, the ex of Westside Ripper Matt (Tom Bateman). It turns out that Olivia wanted to end Matt’s murder spree by catching him in the midst of a crime and revealing evidence to authorities. Realizing the threat Olivia is making, Ava’s sister and Matt’s fiancee, Tory (Liana Liberato) stabbed the woman, killing her. While Olivia’s time was short-lived, Fumero’s latest role certainly packed a punch. Below,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Based on a True Story, Season 2.] Based on a True Story‘s second season has arrived on Peacock and with it more twists and turns in the story of couple Ava (Kaley Cuoco) and Nathan (Chris Messina), who find themselves entangled with Matt (Tom Bateman), a serial killer known as the Westside Ripper. After Season 1’s adventures, the trio continue their entanglement as Matt becomes romantically involved with Ava’s younger sister Tory (Liana Liberato). Vowing to never murder again, Matt works on steering clear of his killer instincts, but suspicions are raised when a string of murders occurs around Ava and Nathan’s town. Ava, meanwhile pieced together the clues and concluded that a copycat killer was at large. This investigation was partly tied to her new friendship with Drew (Melissa Fumero), a woman she believed was an investigator herself, but later learns is actually Matt’s ex. Threatening...

They say sophomore slump is one of the hardest things to beat. But Peacock’s Based on a True Story seems to have done it. With the burden of a delightful maiden season that ended with an insane cliffhanger, the show had no choice but to deliver a worthy follow-up, and it has pretty much nailed it there. Unlike the last season, this one has considerably fewer characters to focus on. But that has also allowed the narrative to properly flourish. The plot may not be as novel as the first time, but the writing is sharper, the social commentary is very much on point, and all the meta-jokes—including the murder of Jared Leto—lands. What more could you possibly want after that?

What Happens in This Season?

Peacock’s Based on a True Story unmasks a new serial killer — and exposes a killer inside someone close to Ava and Nathan Bartlett — in the true-crime sendup’s deliciously twisted sophomore run.
The Season 2 finale reveals that the copycat killer is none other than Sara Paxton’s Paige, the sister of Westside Ripper victim Chloe Lake (Natalia Dyer), whose brutal murder played out in the series’ very first episode. Paige traps Ava and Nathan in the Lipinski Sisters’ podcast studio, and she’s prepared to kill them for profiting off of Chloe’s death, before Matt shows up in the knick of time,...

Did “Based on a True Story” need a second season? Arguably no, but credit where credit is due: Season 2 the Peacock series — now led by Annie Weisman — is significantly more confident, entertaining, and batshit (respectfully) than the first, so when the inevitable cliffhanger rolls around, it actually feels earned.
Season 2, Episode 8, “This Week’s Guest” starts with Ava (Kaley Cuoco) and Nathan (Chris Messina) held hostage at a podcast studio by the as-yet-unidentified Copycat Killer. This is a show with so few characters that I was genuinely stumped as to the murderer’s identity, and thrilled by the reveal that its Chloe Lake’s (Natalia Dyer) sister (Sarah Paxton) — whose sister was killed by Matt (Tom Bateman), the West Side Ripper.
It’s a turn very much of a piece with the rest of the season, which smartly pulls away from Ava, Nathan, and Matt’s hit podcast and its dubious ethics.

Based on a True Story season 2 premiered on Peacock with all eight episodes today, and I have to tell you that it was a really fun watch overall! When the first season came out, I really enjoyed it and so I was excited that there was more to tell in the story, especially with some of those season 1 cliffhangers. Let's get into the review of season 2 overall, and whether it's worth your time. Major Spoilers Below.

NBC has announced when the new drama Grosse Pointe Garden Society will premiere, but does it have the right time slot?
NBC is wrapping up its 2024 slate by announcing when shows will be returning in winter 2025. That includes the new drama Grosse Pointe Garden Society. It comes from Jenna Bans and Will Krebs, the creators of the underrated but popular crime dramedy Good Girls. It refers to the ladies of a local garden club who “find their lives intertwined by scandal, mischief and murder.”
The show is set to debut Sunday, Feb. 23, at 10/9c on NBC. That seems a good place on the surface, but is it really that good a spot for this series?
Why Grosse Pointe Garden Society may have a bad time slot

Focused on taking care of her family, Ava is determined to resist her true crime obsession and return to work as a real estate agent while Nathan trains private tennis clients. But a series of new murders pulls her back in – is Matt behind the slayings? Is Tory, now entangled in a relationship with Matt, in danger? Review: When the first season of Based on a True Story dropped last year on Peacock, I was not impressed with the story of a couple who started their own true-crime podcast with input from a real serial killer.

Did You Know Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Halloween Episode Became a Tradition? Here’s How It All Started! (Photo Credit – Facebook)
When Brooklyn Nine-Nine introduced its first Halloween heist, fans knew they were in for something unique. Kaley Cuoco, Chris Messina, Tom Bateman and Liana Liberato are back with more murder and mayhem in Based on a True Story season two. And this time, there’s a new pint-sized accessory in tow.
Based on a True Story is based on (or partly inspired by) a true story. The series, which satirizes true-crime tropes, introduced Cuoco and Messina as Ava and Nathan, a down-on-their-luck couple who crossed paths with an infamous serial killer, “The Westside Ripper,” in Los Angeles. Ava, a pregnant true-crime obsessive, suggested making a podcast with the killer as a way out of their marital rut.
Now, after the events of season one, season two opens with Ava and Nathan as new parents who attempt to now get out of the true-crime game — but, as the trailer shows, those aspirations are fleeting. The season opens on Ava and Nathan struggling to balance parenthood with waking away from their obsession.

Hold the Phone! Stars Are Dialing for Kamala
Hey, swing state voters, pick up the damn phone already! It could be Jessica Alba calling. Or Patton Oswalt. Or any number of other stars who’ve been diligently manning phone banks for the Kamala Harris campaign the past several weeks. While there haven’t been a whole lot of celebrities turning up in political TV ads this election cycle — there’s always been some doubt about how impactful those are, anyway — Hollywood types have been finding other, more personal ways of whispering into voters’ ears. “About five weeks ago, I started Phone Banking Fridays,” says producer Jamie Patricof (Half Nelson, The Place Behind the Pines), who is now shooting a movie — Roofman, with Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst — in the swingiest of swing states, North Carolina, and corralling some of his cast and crew (and their friends) into spending a few...

Jinkies indeed! After two divisive seasons, Max won’t be renewing Mindy Kaling’s adult animated series Velma for another season. The show, starring Kaling as the voice of Velma Dinkley, lasted for two seasons before Max ripped off its mask, revealing a cancelation notice where a mustache-twirling villain’s head should be. The cancelation of Velma hits hard for fans of the series who genuinely enjoy Kaling’s unique spin on the Scooby gang and their darkly-themed misadventures.
“Over the past two seasons, Mindy [Kaling] and Charlie [Grandy] have created an incredibly fun and fresh world within the iconic whodunit franchise,” Max said in a statement. “While we won’t be moving forward with another season of the series, we thank them for their compelling coming-of-age storytelling, unrivaled clues, and hilarious hijinks.”

Velma Dinkley has solved her last mystery (for now).
Max has canceled its animated series Velma after two seasons. The show’s second season debuted in April, and a Halloween special that premiered on Oct. 3 marks the final outing for the show.
Velma, created by Charlie Grandy (The Office, The Mindy Project), is a more adult-oriented prequel/reimagining of the brainy Scooby-Doo character. Mindy Kaling (who’s also an executive producer) voices Velma, who’s haunted by the disappearance of her mother and dealing with the perils of being a teenager along with solving mysteries.

The state murder of George Floyd in the summer of 2020 led a lot of people to take stock of their lives and values. Protests were attended; decisions about charitable giving were revised; media diets were re-evaluated. Vulture’s Kathryn VanArendonk wrote an essay that elucidated the problem: “Cops Are Always the Main Characters.”
Some shows’ producers met the moment head-on, taking accountability for their part in promoting copaganda. Brooklyn Nine-Nine, for example, famously scrapped a whole season’s worth of scripts and wrote life-changing self-reflection by its characters into what ended up being its final season: Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz) retired from the NYPD to become a private detective working with clients who’d been victimized by corrupt policing, while Holt (Andre Braugher) and Santiago (Melissa Fumero) devised a plan to defund their department.

There are quite a few on-screen sitcom couples who make us believe in true love. From The Office’s Jim and Pam to Modern Family’s Phil and Claire, these couples are single-handedly responsible for taking our expectations to a whole new level. One such couple is Brooklyn 99’s Jake and Amy. Throughout the early seasons, fans are rooting for the couple that gives off enemies-to-lovers vibes. When they finally get together, it’s like a breath of fresh air.

Season 2 will follow new parents Ava (Kaley Cuoco) and Nathan (Chris Messina). After the bloody events of Season 1, the couple tries to return to normalcy. Melissa Fumero’s role in Brooklyn Nine-Nine was iconic for several reasons. Playing the role of Amy Santiago, fans got to see her embody one of the most beloved characters from the series and become their favorite Type-a personality. Although many know of the actress after she got this role, the story of how this happened is almost just as entertaining as the series.

After working on soap operas and small roles in small-budget projects for years, Fumero got the opportunity to audition alongside the legendary Andy Samberg in a show that could become highly televised. While many would expect the actress to be nothing but excited, she couldn’t help but experience the whole range of human emotions.
Melissa Fumero Did Not Get Her Hopes Up
When actors are starting out in their careers, they often audition for several roles one after another.

This article contains spoilers for Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine remains one of the best network comedies of the last decade. This precinct full of silly, yet caring detectives has made us laugh, cry, and almost every other emotion in-between over the course of its eight seasons.
There’s not a single season that’s remotely bad, per se, but there are certainly some that hit the mark better than others. From heartfelt character moments to impeccable comedic timing, the show continues to get better as it goes on, for the most part. That being said, here are the eight seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine ranked from worst to best.
8. Season 1
Season 1 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine isn’t terrible by any means. The first season does a great job of introducing us to these characters, establishing who they are in this world and how they relate to each other. But, as with most sitcoms,...

Brooklyn Nine-Nine might have come to an end back in 2021, with its eighth, and final, season drawing curtains on the chapter of the Nine-Nine precinct. But fans are still in love with the series. Who didn’t fall for Jake Peralta and Amy Santiago’s relationship? Lt. Teddy and Capt. Holt were the team leaders we all hope for. And let’s not forget the ‘best’ best friend in history, Charles Boyle, or the wise (and sassy) soothsayer, Gina Linetti.
Truth be told, the show wouldn’t have been the same without it’s ensemble. And years later, one of the core characters in the series would reveal that she was almost sure she had lost on her role because of an eerie reason.

On Friday, NBC officially handed series orders to “Suits L.A.” and “Grosse Pointe Garden Society,” two of the highest-profile dramas it had in development.
The network did not reveal when either show would premiere, particularly whether they might air at some point during the upcoming 2024-2025 broadcast season. The network already has dramas “Brilliant Minds” and “The Hunting Party,” as well as comedies “St. Denis Medical and “Happy’s Place” set to air next season.
Starring Stephen Amell, Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis and Bryan Greenberg, “Suits L.A.” follows Ted Black (Amell), a former federal prosecutor from New York, who has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. His firm is at a crisis point, and to survive, he must embrace a role he held in contempt for his entire career. Surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both himself and each other,...
