Enlisted in the United States Army from Los Angeles on August 27, 1943 and was serving as Staff Sergeant, 20th U.S. Infantry, 6th U.S. Army Division when he was killed in the fight to liberate the Philippines. He was buried at Fort McKinley National Cemetery in Manila, Grave A-8-28.
