Patrick Bateman Could Become… Patricia Bateman
Okay. Patricia Bateman is not that great of a name. However, there are some rumors that the new American Psycho might be up to the current standards of Hollywood. Some might call it bad news.

What began as a town hall with Donald Trump turned into a bizarre spectacle, as the former president hosted a 30-minute listening party featuring songs from artists who have previously threatened him with legal action.
The town hall in Oaks, Pennsylvania on Monday night was repeatedly interrupted by medical emergencies, reportedly due to warm temperatures inside of the venue. Rather than continue to answer questions, Trump decided to instead play songs from his personal playlist, including Rufus Wainwright’s version of “Hallelujah,” Sinead O’Connor’s version of “Nothing Compares 2 U,” Oliver Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond,” Guns N’ Roses’ “November Rain,” and James Brown’s “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World.”
Also played were “Ave Maria,” “Memory” from the musical Cats, Elvis Presley’s “An American Trilogy,” Andrea Bocelli’s “Time to Say Goodbye,” and the Trump rally staple “Ymca.” As seen in clips posted to social media,...

Slapdash, direct-to-video horror sequels cropped up like weeds in the 2000s, but no title from this particular era continues to receive as much flak as American Psycho 2 (sometimes subtitled All American Girl). As people probably know by now, this began as an original movie called The Girl Who Wouldn’t Die before someone at Lionsgate had the bright idea to make it into a sequel to American Psycho. To say critics and audiences back then hated the decision would be an understatement. Yet in this time of constant reevaluation of overhated cinema, maybe Morgan J. Freeman‘s American Psycho 2 isn’t a complete misfire. Beyond the panning and massive studio meddling sits a dark and sometimes fun comedy that was never given a fair chance.
“Angrier, deadlier, sexier” says the tagline for American Psycho 2, but this lambasted sequel is far less lurid than its poster suggests. Before the present-day plot begins,...

Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans is speaking out against MTV.
The reality star took to Instagram on Tuesday, where she threatened to quit the series after a recent episode aired footage of a contentious fight between her and her new husband, David Eason.
"Yes, me and David have our ups and downs but yesterday’s episode was uncalled for," Evans, 25, wrote in a lengthy caption alongside a slideshow of photos showing her and her husband kissing, and spending some time in the pool with their kids.
"Because David didn’t feel like explaining another argument or drama on camera they make it look as if David is hiding some weird ass s**t from the public," she continued, "as if he was hurting me in some way?!"

After more than 25 years, The American Pavilion’s student programs at the Cannes International Film Festival will have a record-breaking Festival, with more than 200 students confirmed to participate in the highly-respected program, and more international students than ever before. In addition, Director of Student Programming Michael Bremer announced today the addition of a Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity Intensive. Bremer will launch a pilot program with a group of students at this year’s festival in June.
Year after year, since 1989, The Pavilion’s student presence has increased in attendance and expanded in scope. Originally intended to give Film and Media students a window into the Festival, the Student Programs have evolved to now include Culinary, Hospitality and Event Management students, as well as Mba Business graduate students who work assignments with companies doing business in the Marché.
Under the direction of indie veteran Michael Bremer, The American Pavilion’s Business, Event, and Culinary programs have increased an average of 50% since 2012.
Bremer attributes the uptick to two key factors: “We announced our first-ever international outreach initiative during last year’s Festival, and I’m thrilled to report that our student body this year is more international than it’s ever been, with participants hailing from Canada, Hong Kong, Brazil, Panama, El Salvador, Dubai, Pakistan, and Kazakhstan. These students will witness in our Pavilion a microcosm of a much bigger dance going on just outside our doors, where film lovers from all corners of the globe come together to do business.”
More than 700 students from all over the world applied to this year’s various Cannes programs, with only about 30% of the applicants accepted. An additional 300 applicants are under consideration for The American Pavilion’s three smaller programs, the L.A. Intensive in August, the Venice Intensive at the Venice Film Festival, and AmPav’s newest program, the Cannes Lions Intensive in June.
“Additionally, we’ve made a conscious effort to increase enrollment in our Hospitality, Culinary, and Business programs to bring those student numbers more in line with the larger Film contingent that joins us every year,” Bremer added. “In fact, one of our culinary students from 15 years ago is now an educator at the University of Central Florida’s prestigious Rosen School of Hospitality, and returns this year in a faculty-mentor capacity with 16 students from Rosen.”
A group of 16 Rosen College students are participating in the Cannes Hospitality & Event Management Program through The American Pavilion, a 5,000-square-foot facility for the American film community at the Cannes International Film Festival. This is the first time that Rosen College students will participate in this program and as a result, Ucf will be the most represented institution in Cannes with the largest group of students.
“I’m excited about the Cannes Lions Intensive,” Bremer continued. “About six months ago we approached the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, often regarded as the world’s largest ad festival, proposing to develop for them what we’ve done for the Film Festival. With so many new attendees like Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Netflix, Amazon, and even Xbox upending traditional advertising paradigms, it’s vital that we in the entertainment sector sit up and take note. I will bring a pilot program of students this first year, and hope to increase the scope of our presence there in the coming years.”
The American Pavilion has been committed to giving opportunities to students and young filmmakers since its inception and their numbers have grown exponentially over the years. As a result of the Student Programs, past alumni are now gainfully employed throughout the industry at companies such as The Weinstein Company, DreamWorks, Paramount, The William Morris Agency, Sony, Industry Entertainment, ICM, 20 Century Fox, Universal and The Walt Disney Company.
Specific alumni of the internship program include: Morgan J. Freeman, (whose film Hurricane Streets became the first narrative film to win three awards at The Sundance Film Festival), Jeff Nichols, (director, writer, producer, Take Shelter and Mud), Alexa Alemanni, (SAG Award-winning actress), Hope Hall (White House Videographer), and Ron Najor , who recently produced award-winning SXSW film Short Term 12 and last year’s I Am Not a Hipster.

Production designer David Doernberg, who brought a sensitive, finely crafted and observant touch to many excellent independent films, died in New York on Friday after a battle with cancer.
Doernberg began his career in the late ’80s/early ’90s working on music videos for bands like Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo and Superchunk. He quickly moved into independent features, working as a propmaster for films by Hal Hartley (Amateur), Daisy von Scherler Mayer (Party Girl) and Eric Schaeffer (If Lucy Fell). Soon after he became a production designer, bookending his career with films by Kelly Reichardt. He designed her 1994 debut film, River of Grass, as well as her 2010 period tale of frontier life on the Oregon Trail, Meek’s Cutoff. Other notable credits include Phil Morrison’s Junebug, Alison Maclean’s Jesus’s Son, Morgan J. Freeman’s Desert Blue, Todd Solondz’s Palindromes and Pete Sollett’s Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.

The second batch of "Teen Mom" will premiere in January next year, Executive Producer Morgan J. Freeman announced on Tuesday, November 16. The reality show follows the lives of teenage girls during their first year of motherhood after "16 and Pregnant".
The sophomore season uses the girls from the second season of the original show although which of them have not been announced. The first season followed more closely four out of six teenagers on "16 and Pregnant" season 1.
Season 2 had actually been reported earlier this year but the shooting has not been kicked off until now. The premiere date is set for January 11 on MTV.
Meanwhile, it is still blurry whether there will be "Teen Mom 3" featuring the first season's cast - Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell, Farrah Abraham and Amber Portwood. On this Freeman said, "We're doing some continuous-type shooting with the original 'Teen Mom' [cast], but nothing's been announced yet...

Homecoming (DVD)Paramount Home ENTERTAINMENT2009/Rated R/88 Minsnow Available – List Price: $22.98They say actors find enjoyment in playing villains and watching TV star Mischa Barton play the crazed ex of a High School star quarterback, there's no doubt that she's enjoying herself. Despite her real life troubles, Barton is no pretty face who lucked out and landed a hit TV series. The girl can act. Making an impression as the young specter who reveals to Haley Joel Osment evidence of how she perished in The Sixth Sense, Barton worked her way through small indie films, before landing the role of a lifetime as Marissa Cooper on The O.C. Once she decided to exit that show, it wasn't long before viewership declined, proving she was its driving force. After working with Sir Richard Attenborough on the WWII drama Closing the Ring, Barton embraced her British roots by perfecting her acting skills...

With Morgan J. Freeman’s Homecoming hacking its way onto DVD today (courtesy of Paramount Pictures), we here at Dread Central thought it a perfect occasion to take a look back at our favorite on-screen axe murderers as a way of indoctrinating this new blood into the mix.
10. Gaear Grimsrud (Peter Stormare) – Fargo (1996)
Grimsrud may not be an axe murderer per se, but you’ve got to respect the way in which this guy chooses to solve problems. After an irreparable altercation with his partner in crime, Grimsrud puts his conflict resolution skills to good use courtesy of a hatchet and a woodchipper.
9. Lisa (Leslie Lee) – Lisa, Lisa (1977)
Known to some as The California Axe Massacre, that title is a bit over-compensatory considering only one victim bites it via the edge of an axe. Leslie Lee makes for a superior on-screen psychopath in this demented little quickie from the drive-in era,...

If you're not familiar with writer-producer-director Morgan J. Freeman, here is a primer: The multi-hyphenate's debut feature, Hurricane Streets, starring Edie Falco and Brendan Sexton III (Welcome to the Dollhouse), was the first narrative project to win three awards at Sundance in 1997. Freeman went on to direct other films including Desert Blue and American Psycho 2 while launching a successful career producing reality television shows for MTV. His first series, Laguna Beach, spawned two spin-offs and two years ago, Freeman created 16 and Pregnant, which has already spun off another successful social commentary series for MTV, Teen Moms.
Movieline caught up with Freeman recently to discuss how 16 and Pregnant has been a "dream come true" for his inner storyteller, why the series hits home with so many audience members and how all of his projects -- scripted or not -- are related.

The film, starring Mischa Barton, Matthew Long, Jessica Stroup ,and Michael Landes, tells the tale of Mike, a small-town star athlete who is the first in his family to attend college, receiving a football scholarship to prestigious Northwestern University. When he returns home over Christmas break to the people he left behind - his family and friends - they are all surprised to see him with a new girlfriend, Elizabeth, a pretty rich girl from Chicago. Our story takes many twists and turns as Shelby does everything it takes to get Mike back.

Rich Wolff and Richard Ross, both former Tla Releasing execs, are launching a new North American distribution company, Breaking Glass Pictures, named after David Bowie's 1995 song.
The new distributor, which said it would not restrict itself to any particular genre, has begun to develop a slate that includes the rock film "The Band," from Australian director Anna Brownfield, and director Everett Lewis' "Lucky Bastard," about a man whose life spirals out of control when he falls for a street hustler.
In early 2010, The company will release Morgan J. Freeman's road movie "Just Like the Son," starring Rosie Perez and Mark Webber.
The company is looking to line up other distribution agreements for both individual films and catalogs and also plans to provide service deals.

As the star of her new thriller Homecoming, Mischa Barton would have basked in the limelight of her premiere in New York City on Thursday night. Instead, she remained hospitalized in Los Angeles after police were called to her home earlier in the week for assistance. Her rep told People that on the "recommendation of her doctor" she was resting in a hospital. But Barton was missed by the director and producers of her new film, who wished her a speedy recovery. "I'm very concerned about [Mischa]," says Austin Stark, a producer on the film. "First and foremost, we hope she gets better.

Mischa Barton will skip the premiere Thursday night of her movie Homecoming, a day after she made a medical call to Los Angeles police. The 23-year-old actress, who two months earlier said that she was happy and healthy, called police at 3 p.m. Wednesday with a health problem, Lapd Officer April Harding confirms to People. (Access Hollywood first reported the story.) "We assisted her with a medical issue and removed her from her home," says Harding. She adds that no paramedics were involved and no arrests were made, but confidentiality laws prevent her from revealing details about Barton's condition. The star's Craig Schneider,...

If you read the results of last week’s Box Office Poll then you know that the indie offerings of “Humpday,” “Blood: The Last Vampire,” “Soul Power” and “Moon” just barely edged out the weeks top-line offerings: “Brüno” and “I Love You, Beth Cooper.” The box office figures told a different story of course, but “Brüno”’s $30 million take isn’t particularly impressive as compared to the summer blockbusters that preceded it — like “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” — and follow it.
Summer blockbusters like this week’s all-but-guaranteed poll winner “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” I think we all know how the majority of your votes will be cast. Really, the fun part of this week’s Box Office Poll will be seeing just how badly “Potter” trounces the competition.

The early line on Homecoming (opening in New York, Los Angeles and Louisville July 17) suggested it’s yet another in the now 22-year-long string of Fatal Attraction knockoffs, with an unbalanced woman developing a deadly fixation on a spoken-for guy. But the movie proves instead to be primarily a derivative of Misery, complete with a scene of painful foot abuse.
Hopes for something a little more creative are briefly raised when the opening titles credit two writers for the “idea” and three more for the screenplay, but as the film goes on, it becomes clear that too many cooks spoiled the broth here, or at least rendered it bland. Matt Long stars as Mike, a former star high-school quarterback who returns to his small, blue-collar home town for Christmas break and a ceremony in which his jersey number is going to be retired. (I’m no football fan or expert,...

Mischa Barton’s post-cellulite-photo film choices have not been good ones (anyone ever hear of Virgin Territory? Didn’t think so) and Homecoming doesn’t help things one bit. Fatal Attraction set in rural Wisconsin with college-aged kids, Homecoming also rips off some serious plot points from Misery. I’m not joking. Barton is incredibly out of her element as a crazed ex girlfriend who will get her football-playing jock boyfriend back from his new woman at any cost. Here we go...

Freeman books three little 'Piggy's
Tom Sizemore, Gabriel Mann and newcomer Jake Muxworthy are dipping into the indie Piggy Banks for director Morgan J. Freeman. The project is due to begin lensing today in Salt Lake City. The dark drama centers on two brothers (Muxworthy and Mann) who are raised to be criminals like their father (Sizemore) and to think of people as piggy banks, ready to be broken whenever they need anything. They wind up roaming the country living a life devoid of intimacy, responsibility and direction. Problems arise when Muxworthy's character grows tired of the lifestyle only to find unexpected purpose with the discovery of a half sister. Matthew Modine and Tom Arnold are also in talks to round out the cast.
