Nightbreed: The Director’s Cut

The sophomore directorial effort from master of horror Clive Barker, Nightbreed is by no means an obscurity among genre fans, but some may not be familiar with the director’s cut, which runs 20 minutes longer than the original version and has been reworked to better reflect Barker’s original vision. While it was virtually impossible to live up to the subversive heights of Hellraiser, Nightbreed is an admirable, if uneven, effort in its own right. Based on his 1988 novella Cabal, Barker incorporates elements of fantasy, monster movies, psychological thrillers, and slashers, but at its core Nightbreed is a love story.

Swamp Thing 4K Uhd from Mvd

Swamp Thing will be released on 4K Ultra HD on July 25 via Mvd, leading its new 4K LaserVision Collection. (A Blu-ray edition will also be available as part of the Mvd Rewind Collection.) A slipcover and mini poster are included.

Both the PG-rated US version and the unrated international version of the film have been newly restored in 16-bit 4K from the original camera negative with Dolby VIsion/Hdr and DTS-hd Master Audio 2.0 Mono.

Scorpion Releasing will be unleashing Carol Frank's classic 80's slasher flick 'Sorority House Massacre' on Blu-ray this Summer. Unfortunately all we get right now is a peek at the box artwork and no word on any special features that'll be included on the disc. But we do get two pun-like taglines for the price of one on the cover so at least that's something. 'Sorority House Massacre' stars Angela O'Neill, Wendy Martel, Pamela Ross, Nicole Rio and John C. Scorpion Releasing has announced a July release date for Sorority House Massacre on Blu-ray. The 1986 horror movie will be making its way to Blu-ray thanks to Scorpion Releasing and New Horizons on July 8th and we’ve included a look at the official cover art below.

Synopsis

A little girl's brother kills their whole family but her (she escapes by hiding in the basement). He is committed, and she grows up with a new family, eventually going to college, where she joins a sorority. Due to a memory block, she doesn't remember that the sorority house was her childhood house. Her brother senses her presence in the house and escapes so he can finish the job he was unable to complete.

Seeing how the teen horror slasher "The Slumber Party Massacre", which starred Robin Stille and Michelle Michaels, was a big hit for New World Pictures, Roger Corman was looking to create that same success yet again after he developed Concorde Pictures.
