- TriviaWell known for his fine and deeply resonant voice. In the 1960s he had great success with a record of Federico García Lorca's gypsy poems: a million copies were sold. Born into a Jewish family, Foa was discriminated against by the Fascist government of Italy, although his father was a decorated Italian soldier in World War One. He noted, "Laws did not really discriminate [against] me but after laws there are handouts. As for me, handouts overcame laws". Was married and divorced four times.
