Hollywood has been borderline obsessed with Richard Nixon and the Watergate scandal for over half a century. Plenty of presidents or watershed legislative decisions have gotten adaptations, but given the recency of his crimes, Nixon is on another level. There have been 24 feature films centered on Nixon and/or Watergate, and that's not including the recent influx of prestige miniseries like 2023's "The White House Plumbers" about Nixon's political saboteurs, E. Howard Hunt and G. Gordon Liddy or 2022's "Gaslit," the Julia Roberts-starring series about Martha Mitchell, the wife of Nixon's at-the-time United States Attorney General.

There’s no movie magic involved in bringing the gorgeous scenery of Paris to the screen in Emily in Paris. It’s clear in every single frame that this show is made in the City of Light — there’s no faking those breathtaking Parisian surroundings.
Executive producer and director Andrew Fleming says that’s on purpose. “We do a lot of different locations. We don’t go and just sit somewhere,” he tells Tudum across the Agence Grateau conference room table during a late April visit to the Emily in Paris set. “We go somewhere and shoot a scene, we go [to] another place and shoot another scene. It really is a tour of Paris, this show.”

Netflix has dropped the trailer for Part 2 of Emily in Paris Season 4, and of course, all roads lead to Rome at the end of the latest installment.
“Sometimes all you need is a new perspective,” the clip teases in between shots of Emily (Lily Collins) with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Camille (Camille Razat) in snowy France and Sylvie’s (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) new hire Genevieve (Thalia Besson), another American employee joining Savoir.
Tension brews between Emily and Gabriel as Camille still hasn’t shared that she isn’t pregnant with her ex-fiancé. Meanwhile, Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) might turn into more than just a business asset for Emily as he first comes to Paris “exploring some business opportunities.
Jvma hopes to acquire whoever Marcello works for, and Sylvie is keen to nab a meeting with him via Emily — which involves her going to Rome.

Spoiler Alert: This piece contains spoilers for Emily in Paris season 4 part 1.
Emily in Paris season 4 part 1 will leave viewers hanging out in the gray area after several big plot twists, or trompe l’oeuils.
Two big reveals will challenge Gabriel specifically in part 2 of season 4, as it turns out Luc’s girlfriend Marianne (Laurence Gormezano) is not the Michelin star inspector she claimed to be, and Camille (Camille Razat) is actually not pregnant! This will make things interesting for Emily and Gabriel to navigate after they’ve decided to strike up a relationship. Co-stars Lily Collins and Lucas Bravo emphasized the maturity of this season for their characters.
Consistent with the concept of the gray area, teased in the trailer for the first half of the series, director Andrew Fleming, who helmed six episodes this season, echoed these themes.
“Just to be a geek, we try to reflect that visually,...

Rhiannon Fish has starred in many Hallmark films, but as she shared with me in a phone interview, A Costa Rican Wedding is one of her all-time favorites.
Rhiannon stars as Emily, the maid of honor at her best friend Phoebe’s wedding. Her ex-boyfriend, Shane, recently dumped her, and she wants the wedding to be perfect since she’s been crashing at Phoebe’s ever since.
In A Costa Rican Wedding, Emily deals with Phoebe’s family, who thinks she’s accident-prone and will ruin the wedding. She’s horrified when a monkey takes off with the wedding bands and has to turn to her arch-rival Ryan (Christopher Russell), a local tour guide, to help her find them.

Throughout the film, being stranded in a lush rainforest helps the two discuss the issues in their relationship.

Have we really reached the penultimate episode?
Is Evil Season 4 Episode 13 the last time we will be looking forward to another episode of this thought-provoking series?
Dammit, it’s just mean to bring Evil to a screeching halt.
(Alyssa Longchamp/Paramount+)
We’ve got a full recap of “Fear the Unholy” if you’re looking for details. Here’s where the discussion happens (as if I could ever hope to do Evil justice with words on a page).
There was no hiding the fact that Kristen’s words were spoken on behalf of everyone who has brought Evil to life and those of us who have watched it. It’s not just sad; it’s mean.
(Alyssa Longchamp/Paramount+)
We’re literally at the end of the road, but there is still so much to be explored. Just look at this list of goodies:
There were two “case of the week” storylines.

“It’s gonna be different now. They’ll never lie to us again.”
It seems odd to start at the ending of “Dick,” the 1999 Watergate satire starring Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams and now celebrating its 25th anniversary. But those final lines, spoken by Dunst’s Betsy to Williams’ Arlene, the teen girl duo whom the movie posits as the real political masterminds behind the Deep Throat informant that helped bring down Richard “Dick” Nixon, hit different when rewatching “Dick” in the current political climate.
“It always got a knowing laugh,” said director Andrew Fleming, speaking to IndieWire during the same week of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump’s life and President Joe Biden announcing he was not seeking reelection, instead endorsing his Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.
“We knew at the time that that was meant to be a joke,” said screenwriter Sheryl Longin, who co-wrote the script with Fleming.

Emily is back, and Netflix promises she’s ready to chic things up.
Emily in Paris‘ long-awaited fourth season finally has a trailer (below). The season will put one stiletto in front of the other to walk the path set out by some of the streamer’s other biggest hits (Stranger Things, Cobra Kai and Bridgerton, to name a few) and will get a split-season release. Part one releases five episodes on Aug. 15, followed by part two’s five episodes hitting Sept. 12.
Season three left the hit show starring Lily Collins as Emily Cooper with a series of lingering bombshell reveals for Emily (involving a love triangle between Lucas Bravo’s Gabriel and Lucien Laviscount’s Alfie) and the rest of the cast. The trailer sees the protagonist of the comedy trying to move on after season three’s revelations and may find her circling around to a big decision by season’s end.

The trailer sees the protagonist of the comedy trying to move on after season three’s revelations and may find her circling around to a big decision by season’s end.

Illustration by Stephanie Monohan.Kirsten Dunst has played a pageant contestant not once, but twice: famously, in the cult classic Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999), then, in a self-reflexive turn in Showtime’s short-lived satire of predatory capitalism, On Becoming a God in Central Florida (2019). In the latter, Dunst plays Krystal Stubbs, a pageant queen turned widow turned cunning representative of the Founders American Merchandise corporation. In one scene, she instructs a goth teen on a stratagem of competition: “Dazzle by any means necessary. If you want better lightin’ than the other girls, give yourself better lightin’ than the other girls.”Dunst has built a career around this principle. Having started as a child star, she has supported superhero franchises, starred in teen movies and art films alike, and worked in both film and television. In each project, she follows Krystal’s advice, juggling each character’s interiority with bigger-picture concerns. She...

“Emily in Paris” Season 5? Not so fast.
During the amfAR Gala at the Cannes Film Festival, which raises money for research to end HIV and AIDS, Winnie Harlow and Paris Jackson appeared onstage to auction off a walk-on role in a previously unannounced fifth season of the Netflix series. The winner of the auction shelled out €250,000 to appear in the series as well as the chance to attend the Season 4 premiere in Los Angeles. Harlow and Jackson also said that Season 5 of the popular series is scheduled to begin shooting in mid 2025.
However, an individual with knowledge of the situation says that Netflix has not in fact greenlit another season of “Emily in Paris.” According to the official amfAR auction website, the walk-on role came “Courtesy of Darren Star,” the creator of the series. In January of 1999, two teen movies opened back to back and kicked off what would be one of the most extraordinary years for youth-oriented movies in the history of Hollywood. Both were No. 1 at the box office their first weekend. Both boasted remarkable casts of rising stars — they even shared a star in Paul Walker. And both whipped ancient genre conventions into new combinations that made them fresh and new. Yet for all their similarities, “Varsity Blues” and “She’s All That” couldn’t have been more different: one an R-rated sports drama that tempered its inspirational coming-of-age drama with surprisingly harsh depictions of misogyny and physical and mental abuse, the other a sweet, good-natured romantic comedy nearly as innocent as a Mickey Rooney-Judy Garland vehicle from the 1940s. In their similarities and differences lies the key to why 1999 was such a great year for movies of their type — the 1939 of teen movies.

The Craft writer Peter Filardi has been approached about turning the 1996 teen horror classic into a Broadway musical, Bloody Disgusting has exclusively learned.
“We really just started discussing it,” Filardi tells me from the set of Damn Handy, a short film he’s writing and directing. “[The Craft] was my story, and I got the story credit, so that gives me something called separate rights, which covers theater. I didn’t even know that!”
He continues, “These people with a track record of doing Broadway musicals approached me and asked me if I had the rights and if I was interested. Once lawyers determined that I did have the rights, I said, ‘I’m definitely interested.’ I’ve just given them a free shopping agreement, and they’re going to try to set it up.”
“I would love it if it happened,” Filardi adds.

Each weekend Nathaniel is looking at a movie that you, the readers, chose the previous week.
Arlene: What's the deal with that Watergate thing. Do you know anything about it?
President Nixon: No, no. No no no. Absolutely nothing. I don't know a thing. No way, Jose.
Dear readers, I struggled with finding time for Dick this week. I recall mostly loving Dick in the late 90s/early 00s even though the quality of it definitely varies. But you demanded I spend some time with Dick so I finally did this weekend. It turns out it's especially delightful in the morning.
Everything you've just read is jokey but true (literally and figuratively) and if you found it annoying, then Andrew Fleming's Dick (1999) is probably not the movie for you...

Emily in Paris is the hit series created by Darren Star and Andrew Fleming starring Lily Collins. This season still counts on the fantastic costume design by Marylin Fitoussi.
Emily has decided to prolong her stay in Paris, after her torrid fling with Daniel. There is plenty of couture, spiffy characters and Emily is as chipper as ever.
Premise
When ambitious Chicago marketing exec Emily unexpectedly lands her dream job in Paris, she embraces a new life as she juggles work, friends and romance.
Season Three Emily in Paris (2020-)
Emily still communicates in English after having spent a few years in Paris. A lighthearted, clichéd series that is probably a delight for youngsters who dream of the cool Parisian life with cool outfits, très chic offices and houses, and formidable lalaland scenarios.
However off the series might be in terms of realism, it is a colorful and amusing number.

Fascination over the mysterious identity of Deep Throat, the Watergate whistleblower, helped fuel the success of 1976’s Oscar-winning All the President’s Men, but it also led to another, far unlikelier project: 1999’s Dick, a bouncy comedy about two teen girls who unwittingly find themselves at the center of the scandal.
Dick focused on Betsy (Kirsten Dunst) and Arlene (Michelle Williams), a pair of 15-year-old best friends who wind up as President Nixon’s dog walkers and, somehow, become famed informant Deep Throat for Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward (Will Ferrell) and Carl Bernstein (Bruce McCulloch). (It wasn’t until 2005 that former FBI associate director Mark Felt revealed himself to have been the Post’s anonymous source.)

“Emily in Paris” will have a lot more of Lucien Laviscount in Season 3. The actor has been upped to series regular, the streamer announced Sunday.
Additionally, creator Darren Star confirmed that the next season will begin production this summer.

“Emily in Paris” stars Collins as the titular character, an American who lands a dream job doing the social media strategy for a luxury marketing company in Paris.
Season 2, which dropped on the streamer in December, saw Emily “getting better at navigating the city but still struggling with the idiosyncrasies of French life,” per a logline from Netflix.
In January, the show was renewed for Seasons 3 and 4.
