His grandfather, William E. Miller, ran for vice-president with Barry Goldwater in 1964 against Lyndon Johnson and Hubert Humphrey

His is the nephew of progressive talk radio personality, Stephanie Miller.

In 2011, he joined the "I am Visible" campaign and appeared on the cover of "Bi-Social" magazine where he proclaimed his bisexuality. His real-life status spilled into reel-life, since he appeared twice on "Law and Order: SVU" playing different characters, but both times he played men, who were married to women, who also had male lovers.

He is a member of the 1988 E.C. Glass High School football team that won the Virginia 3A State Championship.
