Alejandro Fernandez was born April 24, 1971 in Mexico City; the son of
one of Mexico's best artistS, Vicente Fernandez and Maria Del Refugio
Abarca. Alejandro has lived his years in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.,
were he was registered by his parents. He was raised between "Los Tres
Potrillos" ranch and the city, which made him an exceptional horseman,
animal expert, and admirer of country people. Alejandro made his first
appearance at the age of three, where he interpreted "Alejandra" before
a ten thousand people audience. Throughout his youth Alejandro has
dedicated himself to other activities including Architecture. Alejandro
released his first album in December 1992, called "Alejandro Fernandez"
in which his skills were evident. In 1993, after a successful tour
throught Mexico and the US, he performed with his father, Vicente
Fernandez. In 1994 he released another album called "Grandes Exitos a
la Manera de Alejandro Fernandez" with interpretations of song by great
authors. "Que Seas Muy Feliz" was released in 1995, with the song "Como
quien pierde una estrella" a big hit on local radio stations and the
first success of his career.
Alejandro also known as "El Potrillo" frequented Palenques, small stages, where the true story of Mexican music is written. In 1996 he earned a Double Platinum Record with his production "Muy Dentro de Mi Corazon". In 2002, the National Instituition of High Arts paid tribute to the most remarkable twentieth Century Mexican Musician with a double record titled "un Canto a Mexico Con Alejandro Fernandez". Alejandro was once again signalled as the most perfect figure to represent Mexican Culture, due to his presence and extraodrinary vocal gifts. In a rediscovery of Mexican music, Alejandro has led a generational movement heard in many economic and social levels. He considers it of great importance to bring Mexican traditional music to all edges of the planet. Generating a higher impact then the one in Latin America and the United States.
