She was awarded the Laurence Olivier Theatre Award in 1992 (1991
season) for Best Actress in a Musical or Entertainment for her
performance in Carmen Jones.
She studied at the Settlement Music School and the Philadelphia Academy of Vocal Arts, and received a scholarship to Juilliard.
