Just when we thought the world was doomed by the rejection of scientific rationalism, this lecture docu about the theories and discoveries of researcher Lynn Margulis gives us hope again. Formerly denounced as a scientific radical, Margulis’ ideas supplant the established ‘Neo-Darwinism’ notion of natural selection through competition, with the idea of cooperation on the level of cells and bacteria. For those of us educated in the old ways it’s a real eye opener; John Feldman’s fine direction makes these important scientific concepts easy to understand.

A new documentary feature about Lynn Margulis, a scientific rebel who challenged entrenched theories of evolution to present a new narrative: life evolves through collaboration.
Symbiotic Earth: How Lynn Margulis rocked the boat and started a scientific revolution will premiere worldwide in March 2018 at Oxford University on March 3, the Museum Blau of the Natural Sciences Museum of Barcelona on March 7 and the David Brower Center in Berkeley on March 18. The premieres will launch a worldwide series of community screenings.
Symbiotic Earth is the story of a scientific rebel. A model of female empowerment, Lynn Margulis fought the male establishment and, through her persistence and triumphed.
As a young scientist in the 1960s, Margulis was ridiculed when she articulated a theory that symbiosis was a key driver of evolution. Instead of the mechanistic view that life evolved through random mutations and competition (the Darwin model of “survival of the fittest”), she...

All Time Low is gearing up to release their new album, Future Hearts, on April 7th – and the first single off the album, “Something’s Gotta Give” is already proving to be a monster hit.
The music video for the uber-catchy new punk/pop-rock tune has already amassed over 1.5 million views on YouTube and features lead singer Alex Gaskarth roaming about in a French fry costume as he attempts to hit on a model, befriend his band-mates and cuddle a cat. Unfortunately, none of them want anything to do with the 27-year-old, but it’s not until he glances at his reflection that he understands why: He’s A Zombie. Gaskarth then goes on to infect Jack Barakat, Rian Dawson, and Zack Merrick with his zombie-bite – and in the end, he’s put out of his own misery. Yikes?

The hot Aussie band graces the cover of Billboard Magazine.
We're not sure Pete Wentz would be on-board with this.
5 Seconds of Summer is defending their place in the pop-punk world (they are definitely not a boy band, you guys) in their new cover story with Billboard magazine. Ashton Irwin tells the mag: "People get confused because we're young and have a female fanbase… But so did Fall Out Boy. Pete Wentz was the Justin Bieber of 2007. Girls loved him, they obsessed over him."
Ok, we'll give him that one.
Not that 5Sos ("five sauce," as their devotees call them) hasn't drawn a Bieber comparison or two themselves. The article calls attention to the band's YouTube cover of Bieber and Chris Brown's "Next to You," in which Luke Hemmings "playfully" sports Bieber's then-trademark bangs.
If you can't wrap your head around a young female fan base being "punk," get this: Goldfinger's John Feldman, who produced...

Perhaps jealous that Fox and NBC were getting all of the pre-upfronts buzz on Wednesday (May 12), ABC decided to make a series pickup of its own. According to a variety of media reports (we will, again, credit The Hollywood Reporter, for fun), ABC has sent "No Ordinary Family" to series. Created by Greg Berlanti and John Feldman, the family series focuses on an ordinary family who survive a plane crash and suddenly discover new powers, who suddenly discover that they're no longer ordinary. In this case, unlike with "Happy Town," ABC will be content to let the title...

Some may be oblivious to the work that network television goes through to make sure the public is entertained and they keep revenue numbers in the black. Take network giant ABC for instance, Who are slowly riding out the last of the hit series Lost (airing it’s final season this year), as well as working on other, more recent, hit series such as V and Flash Forward. Even with all of this they’re still working on television pilots for 2011, here are the highlights:
