At the age of 5, she began ballet lessons at the Royal Opera in
Stockholm and got small parts in the ballets that were performed. The
parts became bigger and she wanted to try acting. She did apply to
become a student at the Royal Dramatic Theatre but failed in the final
test. Instead, she began at Oscarsteatern theater in revues together
with Sigge Fürst and
Sture Lagerwall. She also took part in
the revues by Ernst Rolf. At this time she
had already began acting in movies, with a bit part in
Fridas visor (1930) and in 1932 she
became a contract player for Svensk Filmindustri (SF). She made her
breakthrough with
Vaermlaenningarna (1932). Her
career continued through the 1930s and 1940s mixed with a lot of parts
at the theatre, for example a lot of revues by
Kar de Mumma. Memorable movies
together with Nils Poppe include
Blåjackor (1945),
Tappa inte sugen (1947) and
Greven från gränden (1949).
In the 1950s she starred in a string of detective movies with
Karl-Arne Holmsten.
