- Joseph Egger was born on February 22, 1889 in Donawitz, Styria, Austria-Hungary [now Austria]. Besides this activity he also played smaller roles time and again and in this way he developed his passion for acting. In the next years he played at different Austrian theaters, often impersonating funny roles.
- He entered the film business in the middle of the 30s where he often played support roles at the side of other movie stars.
