Pamela Edwards McClafferty is a writer, bestselling novelist, award winning film producer and fashion designer and a songwriter. Presently, Pamela has written the book and lyrics to the musical, Artland, collaborating with Grammy Award Winning composer, Stanley Clarke, who also was chosen as the National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master 2022.
Owen Laster represented Pamela's novel, In The Name Of Todd. It became a best seller, renamed Inherit the Storm and Michael Landon optioned the novel for a mini series.
Pamela and Mark McClafferty founded Spellbound Pictures in 1996. They put together a $60 Million Production financing deal with Canal Plus of Paris and Isambard Productions of New Zealand. With Mark McClafferty, Tom Parkinson and Robert Rea, Pamela produced The Climb, starring John Hurt, Gregory Smith and David Strathairn. It won the Berlin Film Festival UNICEF Award, as well as eight other international awards.
Pamela was executive producer/producer of "Katt Williams Live". The special included a five minute documentary about the political climate in Cincinnati where the special was filmed. She collaborated with Kenny Rushing on the non fiction book "HouseHustlilng Manifesto". Pamela edited the novel, BLUE, written by Walter Jones, a Spellbound best seller. In 2024 she continues to support Walter's legacy, launching BLUE in 3rd Edition on Amazon where it once again hit the bestseller's list. One of her songs, Shades of Black and White, premiered on her concept Album, NOW, June 2024. Her second song, Reflections, was released in July 2024. Pamela's bestseller, In the Name of Todd, is being rewritten and released in the New Year. In development, Spellbound has a superhero series The Knightwatchers and a drama with comedy, Hopkins of Harlem.
Years ago, Mark introduced Pamela to multi Grammy Award Winner Stanley Clarke. The pair have collaborated on Artland the Musical ever since. Whether in town or away on tours or productions; on Skype, Facetime or Zoom or working in the studio; whether rehearsals and/or rewrites and re-recordings, they have collaborated through 5 readings, 4 workshops and 6 months as the first original musical in the Los Angeles High School for The Arts curriculum. The Festival of New American Musicals recommended Artland to their subscribers to attend Artland Workshop performances at the Caroline Leonetti Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. Pamela and Stanley have recently put the finishing touches on Artland. Pamela is an Emeritus member of SAG, AFTRA & AGVA and a member of ASCAP.
