This November, Earth's Mightiest Heroes move back to the best coast in an all-new run of West Coast Avengers from writer Gerry Duggan and artist Danny Kim. Led by Iron Man, the new roster includes Spider-Woman, War Machine, Firestar, a mysteriously redeemed Ultron, and another former villain seeking redemption...Blue Bolt!
Wait, who the heck is Blue Bolt?!
An experienced Marvel henchman with unrefined lightning-based abilities, Chad Braxton, a.k.a. Blue Bolt, makes his first appearance in West Coast Avengers #1 where he finds himself on loan to the Avengers through a new prison release program. Reckless, undisciplined, and downright rude, it's said that Blue Bolt "may just be the biggest jerk in the entire Marvel Universe."
Can the Avengers whip him into shape or will Blue Bolt’s abrasive attitude - and lack of morals - tarnish the team’s legacy forever? We'll soon find out, though an early...

While the MCU is currently focused on Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Victor Von Doom, one of Marvel’s most formidable villains, Marvel’s comics continue to evolve their own storylines and characters. This report will delve into one such story, which is not a new release but a significant one from 2015 that ties into the Secret Wars storyline.
This comic book holds considerable importance as it unveils a major mystery that has puzzled Marvel fans for some time: the meaning behind Groot’s phrase, “I am Groot.” This 2015 issue reveals the true origins of this phrase, and you might be surprised to learn that its significance is quite different from what you might expect!
The source of this report is the 2015 Secret Wars tie-in, The Infinity Gauntlet, written by Dustin Weaver and Gerry Duggan. With Secret Wars making a comeback in the MCU, we revisited this classic comic...

And while the MCU is currently focused on the return of Robert Downey Jr. in the role of Victor Von Doom, one of Marvel’s biggest villains, Marvel’s comics are continuing on their own path as the storylines we love to follow are being continued, and these stories and characters are being evolved further, which is going to be the focus of this report as well.
This story is not related to a wholly new comic book story, but rather a story that came out back in 2015 as a tie-in to the Secret Wars comic book storyline, but it is so important that we simply had to report on it and reveal a major mystery that has been bugging Marvel fans for some time.

Has there ever been a more bonkers superhero than Deadpool? Equal parts violent and zany, this lethal mercenary, also known as the "Merc with a Mouth," first appeared in the "New Mutants" comic series in December 1990, albeit as a villain. Created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, Deadpool (aka Wade Wilson) went on to star in his own mini-series. He eventually gained notoriety for his dark humor, meta-commentary, and affinity for breaking the fourth wall. Over the years, Deadpool has teamed up with or battled alongside Marvel's hero gallery and has since become one of the brand's most popular characters. In fact, according to Gitnux Marketdata Report, he's the most liked character on Facebook. So take that, Iron Man!
The release of 2016's "Deadpool," starring Ryan Reynolds as Wilson, further cemented the character's popularity. Uniquely, this was the actor's second stint in the role, though the less said about his...

Here's a return no one saw coming: Aaron Stanford is appearing as the mutant Pyro in "Deadpool & Wolverine," reprising his role from "X2: X-Men United" and "X-Men: The Last Stand." It feels like the movie settling for whatever cameo it can secure since Pyro is very much a B-lister among the X-Men.
St. John Allerdyce (just John Allerdyce in the movies) has the mutant ability of pyrokinesis, or controlling fire (hence his adopted name of Pyro). However, it comes with a caveat. Unlike, say, Firebenders from "Avatar: The Last Airbender" or Colonel Roy Mustang, the Flame Alchemist, from "Fullmetal Alchemist", Pyro can't create fire. Hence, his comic costume has a dual hose flamethrower (with the tubes affixed to his wrist) to create the flames for him, which he can then manipulate.

New York, NY— March 6, 2024 — In July 2019, the world of the X-Men was shattered and reborn on Krakoa in visionary writer Jonathan Hickman’s House of X. The trailer for "X-Men '97," the revival of the cartoon series beloved by '90s kids everywhere, recently premiered. That means it's that time again — that time when nerds like me try to get you superhero movie/TV fans to read some dang comics.
"X-Men" itself was enthusiastic about adapting comic stories, particularly ones written by Chris Claremont during his legendary 17-year-long run on "X-Men". Season 1 of "X-Men" closed out with the two-part time-travel comic "Days of Future Past" and then, in season 3, the show adapted both the original "Phoenix Saga" and "The Dark Phoenix Saga."
Larry Houston, the original producer/director of "X-Men," is a big fan of the comics and made the show with attention to the details of the source material. Houston is back as a consulting producer on "X-Men '97" and head writer Beau DeMayo recruited "X-Men" fans as his team, feeling that enthusiasm about the...

The Krakoan era has been a golden age for Marvel’s mutants, which is very much at odds with how things usually go for the oft-persecuted X-Men in the comics. And this is why writer Gerry Duggan just up and killed a whole bunch of them. “I think my favorite eras of X-Men are when their backs are just completely against the wall,” X-scribe Gerry Duggan tells us over Zoom.
The status-quo-shattering comic books that kicked off the Krakoan era, House of X and Powers of X, hit like a bolt of lightning in 2019. Masterminds Jonathan Hickman, Pepe Larraz, and Rb Silva jumped into a line that, for years, had been conspicuously downplayed by Marvel—the cost of a failure of corporate synergy—and shot it full of new energy, new purpose, and a new mission statement.

This article contains spoilers for the last two years or so of Marvel X-Men comics.
“Humans of the planet Earth. While you slept, the world changed.”
The opening line of Jonathan Hickman and Pepe Larraz’s House of X hit like a bolt of lightning, and everything it promised paid off. Hickman took over the floundering X-Men line of comics, isolated and diminished after years of corporate meddling, and reinvigorated them creatively and financially with an exciting five-year plan.
House of X and Powers of X was Hickman, Larraz, Rb Silva and Marte Gracia’s overture. It started with a barrage of resets and retcons: the opening page of House of X #1 heralded the change with a designed infographic with Professor X announcing the new order to the world, and the issue jumped right in with what appeared to be Cyclops hatching from an egg with a sinister-looking, walking, helmeted Professor X summoning him.

The “best gifts come with a bow.” Hawkeye gets his own spinoff in the forthcoming Disney+ series, premiering on the streaming platform November 24. In honor of Marvel’s infamous archer, we rounded up a handful of Hawkeye comic books for you to purchase before (or after) the show debuts.
For the uninitiated, Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) is a skilled marksman and an ex-villain turned Avenger; his ally is Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), a rich girl-turned-superhero. But that doesn’t even graze the surface of their backstory. For more about how they came to be — and why so many fans are rabid for the series’ debut — check below for a collection of comics that created their characters.

Wolverine #6 Writer: Benjamin Percy | Artist: Viktor Bogdanovic | Colourist: Matthew Wilson | Letters: Cory Petit
Right away I found it very annoying this didn’t pick up immediately with the rainbow bridge reveal of last issue. That all probably happened in a different comic. Wolverine #6 is after all part 3 of a 22 part story taking place over how many series? Despite all this baggage the issue works both as part of a larger story and more importantly as a Wolverine story. To top all that off I actually found it very accessible having not read any other X of Swords tie-ins. The issue follows to stories. The first of which is Wolverine and his quest for Muramasa. The second thread follows War and Pestilence of Four Horsemen of Apocolypse fame as they reaquiant themselves and introduce the readers to new villain Solem. Of the two I actually prefered the second non Wolverine centric story elements.

Just when all hope seemed lost, a beloved X-Man returned to life in this week’s poignant issue of Marauders. Written by Gerry Duggan with art by Matteo Lolli, Marauders has been nonstop adventure and now you can see what’s to come in the newly revealed cover of Marauders #12. Kate returns just in time to take part in the next great X-Men crossover, X Of Swords. When asked about the issue, Duggan took the opportunity to tease what’s on the horizon for the Marauders: “Long live the Red Queen! First the Marauders draw their blades in X Of Swords, then comes the...

This X-Men article contains spoilers.
Event tie-in comics aren’t supposed to be this good.
Empyre: X-Men has been highly anticipated since its announcement. This tie-in to Marvel’s big Empyre event was slotted as the first big foray into the rest of the Marvel Universe for the Krakoans post-House of X/Powers of X, but the Covid-related shutdown pushed the book back. Throughout the long wait, readers have been eager to see how the mutants would play with the rest of the world, but I think most were expecting a fun little throwaway series.
What we’re getting instead is something extremely consequential to the bigger story that the X-team is telling. The series shows a great deal of storytelling promise heading into X of Swords, the first big crossover of the Dawn of X era.
The Pretender Wanda Maximoff has atoned! Or at least, she tried to atone...

One of the big constants in Marvel has always been the endless rivalry between the Skrulls and the Kree. Back in the ‘70s, we got the classic Avengers story, The Kree-Skrull War out of the two alien forces going to war with each other with Earth’s fate in the balance. The What If spinoff (“What If the Avengers Fought the Kree-Skrull War Without Rick Jones?”) is presumably the first massive superhero team-up storyline in Marvel history. The aftermath of the Kree-Skrull War caused the creation of Marvel’s Illuminati. They even retconned it so that Venom’s origins were spawned from the war (its first host was a Kree warrior trying to weaponize shape-shifting against a race of shape-shifters).
Plus, hey, we got a pretty successful Captain Marvel movie based on the feud.
A major wrinkle in the rivalry appeared in the mid-00s when we got to meet Hulkling from the Young Avengers.

I’m assuming if you are reading this that you like superhero comics. I certainly do. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy taking in a lot of different genres, but ultimately always come back to the big guys in tights punching each other. And yes, sometimes that does get a little bit samey. It’s always nice when something a little different is tried, especially taking well established characters out of their comfort zones, and that’s the prime reason this issue is sat in front of me now. As part of the Fantastic Four Ben Grimm’s adventures have normally been one third soap opera, one third action, and one third science fiction/ cosmic style adventures. Always fun, but pretty predictable. This book looks anything but predictable, that superb cover giving you the first indication this...

Marvel announced the first major crossover of Jonathan Hickman’s Dawn of X era of X-Men. X of Swords will tie all the X-titles together in a ’90s throwback, 15-part crossover touching every single book in the line.
“One of the cool things we are able to do now, because we’ve established the X-line and really know where we’re going, is that we’re able to try some different things out,” Hickman said in a statement. “X of Swords will be an old school crossover that meanders through the entire line. It’s almost like chapters of a story.”
Hickman, you’ll recall, reinvigorated the X-Men line with House of X and Powers of X. And like Powers of X, X of Swords is using the Roman numeral X as a sort of low-nerdy double entendre. Where Powers of X examined four time periods of exponential scales, X...

In superheroics, taxes are apparently optional, because the only two things that are truly certain are death and rebirth. To that end specifically, X-Men founder Charles Xavier has assembled a team of five mutants, imaginatively christened The Five, to put the resurrectional studies of Moira MacTaggert into action following the establishment of the sovereign island nation of Krakoa.
The team of Fabio “Goldballs” Medina, Kevin “Proteus” MacTaggert, Joshua “Elixir” Foley, Eva “Tempus” Bell, and the first new mutant born after M-Day, Hope Summers, have perfected a process by which they were able to reproduce the bodies, powers, minds, and memories of their fallen brethren, thereby taking the insignificance of “comic book death” to an entirely new level.
One of the few mutants who has, for reasons yet unknown, been unable to cross through the Gateways to Krakoa, however, is Kitty Pryde, who first appeared in X-Men #129 in January of 1980. Instead,...

When Adventure Time voice actor Justin Roiland teamed up with Community scribe Dan Harmon, the result was one of the most incisively irreverent animated science-fiction comedies in a generation. For those tragically unversed in this particular corner of geekdom, Rick and Morty began as a parody of Robert Zemeckis’ definitive 1985 sci-fi comedy, Back to the Future, for the monthly Los Angeles based short film festival Channel 101, which was also created by Harmon along with Ron Schrab. The series was subsequently picked up by Cartoon Network and premiered in their [adult swim] programming block in December of 2013, quickly attracting a diehard following as it developed into what has been described as “a never-ending fart joke wrapped around a studied look into nihilism.”
The series, which has so far aired 36 episodes over its first three-and-a-half seasons, has also generated an on-going comic series currently 57 issues deep, the five-issue Pocket Like You Stole It miniseries,...

Spinning out of his Amazing Spider-Man run, Nick Spencer will be playing around the 2099 sandbox later this year.
At San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel announced that Nick Spencer will be returning to the 2099 timeline, although the form the story will take has yet to be not revealed. Miniseries? Event? A 2099 imprint relaunch? What we do know is that this new 2099 thing builds out of a moment from one of Spencer’s many cliffhangers in a recent Spider-Man comic.
Amazing Spider-Man #25 was filled with various developments that will branch off to different stories. While there’s a Mysterio arc, a Dr. Strange team-up, and a Sinister Syndicate storyline on the way, the biggest eye-opener was a short scene of a college lecture about how all these major advancements in Marvel’s modern universe will one day cause massive destruction in the future.

This issue is largely dedicated to supposed super new threat Persephone revealing her grand plan for Wolverine. The hows and whys of why she brought him back to the land of the living. All rather paint by numbers villainous scheming really. When Persephone uttered the phrase...

If you thought having somebody like Blade joining the Avengers was pretty amazing, then you’re definitely going to want to pay attention to today’s news.
In a creative move so bold that you’d have thought it originated during Mark Millar’s run on Ultimate Comics Avengers, the House of Ideas have decided to roll out a super group lineup so wild and eclectic that it may take you a while to believe it’s really happening. But I guess that very surprise is what Savage Avengers writer Gerry Duggan is counting on, saying that you need only “just give us one issue. One issue and we will convert you. Whenever a major comic book event rolls around, we anticipate for at least one character to bite the dust, right?
In keeping with such expectations, Marvel seemingly knows how to keep the tradition alive, as the currently ongoing Infinity Wars looks to check off that requisite box. Already, we’ve learned of how it’ll yield bizarre hybrids amalgamating some of our favorite heroes, but today’s news comes as being a bit more somber.
You see, the House of Ideas sent around cryptic teasers to the media this afternoon bearing the ominous title of “One Will Fall.” Bereft of any synopsis, our only assurances come in knowing that Infinity Wars: Fallen Guardian #1 will be written by Gerry Duggan, illustrated Andy MacDonald, and R.B. Silva will supply the cover. Oh yeah, there’s also some teaser art which you can view below.

Marvel’s big comic book event this year, for obvious reasons, is Infinity Wars, involving the latest threat to the universe from those pesky Infinity Stones. Just like the big screen’s Avengers: Infinity War, the comic promises to have major repercussions for the Marvel universe going forward. And one of the biggest appears to be a complete shake-up of the Guardians of the Galaxy‘s line-up.
Marvel.com has revealed that writer Donny Cates and artist Geoff Shaw are set to relaunch the series in early 2019 with a much different team in place from what fans are used to. In a statement on the website, Cates outlined what we can expect from the first arc of the new Guardians comic – titled ‘Endgame’ – with the writer saying they have some crazy plans in store for us.
“Geoff and I have some Insane plans for our first Guardians arc. This arc is called ‘Endgame,...
