Supporting actress of British and Polish ancestry, born Catherine Osborne. She was one of three siblings. Her father was the British writer Arthur Osborne (1906-1970); her mother Ludka Lipszyc (1904-1987), who later called herself Lucja or Lucia Osborne, came from the Polish part of Silesia.
