We found out that David Denman joined the cast of Peacemaker season 2 earlier this year, and the actor has now revealed a pretty big detail about the character he'll play.
Possible spoilers follow.
Denman shared an Instagram video of himself in the Peacemaker makeup chair getting heavy prosthetics applied with the caption "Just another day at the office."
Does this mean he's playing some kind of monster or alien? Not necessarily!
Though the photo has since been removed, a mural was recently spotted on set featuring John Cena's Peacemaker (wearing a slightly different costume), his father in his White Dragon outfit, and a mysterious third character who many believe will turn out to be Christopher Smith's brother, Keith.
This individual was also wearing a helmet, which might well be what Denman is being fitted for here.
If you watched season 1, you'll know that Chris accidentally killed his older...

Jeremy Saulnier's latest movie, "Rebel Ridge," just debuted on Netflix — and critics are loving the newest project from the director of "Green Room."
According to FlixPatrol, the movie — which Saulnier wrote and edited as well — has been the most-watched Netflix film in the U.S. since it hit the streamer on September 6, 2024. It also has a pretty astounding Rotten Tomatoes rating of 95% (as of this writing). With Aaron Pierre in the lead role of Marine veteran Terry Richmond — a role that was originally played by "Star Wars" veteran John Boyega until the actor departed due to family commitments — the movie has a pretty impressive cast, with James Cromwell, Don Johnson, AnnaSophia Robb, David Denman, and Emory Cohen flanking Pierre.
So, what is "Rebel Ridge" about? As the movie begins, Pierre's Terry is heading to post bail for his cousin Mike (C.J. LeBlanc) and plans to buy a truck afterwards...

Peacemaker writer/director James Gunn has confirmed that the hit The Suicide Squad spin-off series will return to our screens next year.
When asked for a season 2 update on Threads, Gunn said that John Cena and the gang will be back for more outrageous adventures in 2025, "after Superman." The Dcu reboot flies into theaters in July, which means we can expect Peacemaker season 2 closer to the end of the year.
Gunn recently took to social media to reveal a first official look at the new helmet John Cena's Christopher Smith will don in when he makes his return to our screens. The photo only showed the helmet from the back, but it's clearly a new design, possibly inspired by the "Future State" version of the character.

Director Jeremy Saulnier’s gritty action thriller Rebel Ridge brilliantly balances the intensity of its grounded spectacle with an intimate, emotionally charged undertone, and part of the credit for this perfect assimilation goes to the compelling performance by the cast and memorable characterization. Not only the lead roles played by veteran actors who are ever reliable in their craft, but even the minor characters played by relatively new performers with minimal screen time made a lasting impact in the movie despite having mostly conventional parts, which goes on to prove not only the deftness of script but also proper casting as well.

James Gunn made it very clear that the new Dcu would be a much more cohesive shared universe than the Dceu ever was when he took over as co-ceo of DC Studios, and we already know that the upcoming Superman reboot will have some connections to the second season of Peacemaker.
At the very least, it's been confirmed that Frank Grillo will appear as Rick Flag Sr. in both, and a new rumor is claiming that a much bigger character is also set to make his presence felt in Peacemaker season 2 after making his debut on the big screen.
According to Grace Randolph, Nicholas Hoult has filmed a scene as Lex Luthor for the Max show's sophomore run.
Grace isn't known as the most reliable of sources, but she has broken a few significant scoops in the past, so we'd say this is worth some attention. Plus, based on those recent set photos,...

Many movies have been made about soldiers whose skill set proves out of step once they re-enter the civilian world. Some of them treat those differences with empathy and insight; but more often than not, they leverage them for explosive, empty action sequences. “Rebel Ridge” mostly falls perfunctorily in the latter category.
Written and directed by Jeremy Saulnier (“Green Room”), the film’s focus on a Black soldier adds degrees of complexity to the conflicts that erupt between him and local law enforcement in a small, mostly white town. But if racial politics (cinematic and otherwise) prompt Saulnier to treat him marginally more thoughtfully than most movie veterans, the filmmaker’s obligations to genre formula end up overshadowing those differences by the time the last empty, explosive action sequence has unfolded.

Plot: A former marine (Aaron Pierre) takes on the corrupt police force of a small town.
Review: Jeremy Saulnier has always struck me as a talent to watch. From his small-scale debut, Blue Ruin, to his genre breakthrough, Green Room, he’s always had a talent for mixing bone-crunching violence with a surprising amount of soulfulness. While I thought his last film, Hold The Dark, was a mixed bag, it had one incredible shoot-out about mid-way through the movie that made me think that Saulnier, should he ever go that route, would make one heck of a legit action film.
Lucky for us, he went that route.
Rebel Ridge is probably Saulnier’s most conventional and accessible film to date, but it also ranks as one of the most entertaining films Netflix, which is dropping the film this week, has made in some time. Gorgeously shot and featuring a breakout...

Jeremy Saulnier’s Rebel Ridge is a race thriller that, up to a point, is as effective as they come. A Black man, Terry Richmond (Aaron Pierre), is racing down a Louisiana backroad on his bike, Iron Maiden’s “The Number of the Beast” blasting on his headphones. From there, he’s promptly rear-ended and thrown off his bike by a cop car in pursuit, held up at gunpoint, and thrown against the car by two officers. For some 15 minutes, we’re simply bearing witness to the kind of traffic stop that’s gotten so many Black people killed, and Saulnier twists the knife by expertly modulating the tension between the cops clearly looking for any reason to bust out the weaponry and Terry refusing to capitulate to his clear harassment.
Violence doesn’t ignite here, thanks to Terry unbelievably maintaining a cool head, but the traffic stop still ends...

Based on what little we've seen from Creature Commandos, Superman, and Peacemaker season 2, James Gunn is wasting no time in expanding the Dcu and creating a world inhabited by superheroes.
A DC fan recently took to social media to share some deep-cut Easter Eggs they hope to see in the Dcu; one of them was Martian Manhunter's obsession with Chocos, DC's take on Oreos.
That prompted Gunn to respond with a real-life version of Chocos, leading to speculation on social media that J'onn J'onzz will soon make his Dcu debut. However, as the filmmaker is currently busy shooting an episode of Peacemaker, we'd bet on these being a prop from that series.
In other words, it might be best not to get too excited. However, that Max series does feel like a fitting place to introduce Martian Manhunter as Detective John Jones! It's worth noting that Chocos were also spotted...

Heads up, folks: One of the best trailers of 2024 has just dropped.
Jeremy Saulnier, the writer/director behind films like "Green Room" and "Blue Ruin," has returned with "Rebel Ridge," a movie about a guy who is trying to bail his cousin out of jail, but whose life savings is unjustly taken from him by small-town police officers who seem to operate with impunity. After calmly explaining his case and trying to get his money back, the man takes things into his own hands -- and that's when the cops realize they've made a huge mistake: The dude they're harassing used to be a Marine, and he has no intention of meekly putting his tail between his legs and slinking away from this situation. Quite the opposite, actually: The guy becomes a one-man wrecking crew hellbent on justice, and he's going to make them regret ever messing with him in the first place.

Jeremy Saulnier, the plainspoken American auteur behind “Green Room,” “Blue Ruin” and “Hold the Dark,” has been toiling away for the past few years on a new movie for Netflix called “Rebel Ridge.” Now, that movie is finally here. And there’s even a new trailer, which you can watch below.
In the film Terry (Aaron Pierre from “The Underground Railroad”) attempts to bail his cousin out of jail, when he runs afoul of some morally questionable smalltown cops. What starts off as a minor infraction soon balloons, with Terry having to take matters into his own hands and bring down a systemically corrupt police chief (a snarling Don Johnson) and maybe whole chunks of the Shelby Springs government. His only ally is a young attorney (AnnaSophia Robb), who soon finds herself in over her head as well. As the trailer suggests, Saulnier will deliver the bone-crunching suspense set pieces he is so good at,...

Coming our way from director Jeremy Saulnier, whose previous credits include Murder Party, Blue Ruin, Green Room, Hold the Dark, and episodes of True Detective season 3, the thriller Rebel Ridge was announced back in 2019… but we haven’t seen it yet, because the project was slowed down by the pandemic lockdowns, then by the departure of lead actor John Boyega a few weeks into filming, reportedly due to “family reasons.” With Aaron Pierre (M. Night Shyamalan’s Old) taking over the lead role, Rebel Ridge did make it through production on the third attempt. It wrapped in the summer of 2022, had a positive test screening, and is finally ready to make its way out into the world. Netflix has announced a September 6th premiere date for the film, and along with that announcement comes the unveiling of several first look images, which can be seen in this article.

As filming continues on the second season of Peacemaker in Paulding County, Georgia, a new photo from the set has sent speculation into overdrive.
Possible spoilers follow.
A mural has been spotted featuring Peacemaker - wearing a slightly different costume - his father in his White Dragon outfit, and a mysterious third character who many believe will turn out to be Christopher Smith's brother, Keith.
If you watched season 1, you'll know that Chris accidentally killed his older brother by punching him in the back of the head when their father forced them to fight for his Aryan pals' entertainment, but the theory is that this image was painted in an alternate timeline where Keith lived and joined his father and brother as part of a vigilante team.

“[Peacemaker] killed my son, Rick Flag Jr... It’s about to go down.”
As we know, Frank Grillo is set to make his live-action debut (he will first voice the character in the animated Creature Commandos series) as Rick Flag Sr. in James Gunn's Superman, but the Captain America: Civil War actor will reprise the role for a face-off with John Cena's Christopher Smith in the second season of Peacemaker.
Grillo - who is looking even more ripped than he was the last time we saw him - has now shared a video to his Instagram Stories, promising that he will be seeking vengeance against Smith for the murder of Rick Flag Jr. (Joel Kinnaman) in The Suicide Squad.
We also have some new photos from the Paulding County, Georgia set, giving us a better look at Cena as Smith in his civilian attire.

Peacemaker season 2 was announced when the DC Extended Universe was still a thing and, much to the surprise of some fans, it will now be part of DC Studios' new Dcu.
Confusingly, James Gunn has said season 1 both is and isn't canon to this rebooted franchise, raising questions about how much of a reboot this is when some actors and characters are returning while others are not.
Regardless, we now have some new character details courtesy of Nexus Point News.
According to the site, David Denman will play "Larry," a "big tough guy with an equally big heart and a true best friend." We'd bet on him being an old friend of Christopher Smith's, though it's unclear whether The Office star is playing a new creation or someone from the comic books.

While Jennifer Holland has hinted at her planned Dcu debut in a few social media posts, the actress and wife of DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn has now confirmed she's begun work on Peacemaker season 2.
Holland made her Dceu debut as Emilia Harcourt in The Suicide Squad and later reprised the role in Peacemaker, Black Adam, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. She quickly became a fan-favourite, stealing the show alongside John Cena in his anti-hero's spin-off TV series.
This makes Holland one of only a handful of Dceu actors to make the leap from that world to the Dcu. Other Team Peacemaker members are expected to join her, including Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, and Steve Agee as John Economos.
So far, several actors Gunn previously worked with and Blue Beetle star Xolo Maridueña are the only ones not to be axed for DC Studios' reboot.

As production continues on the second season of Peacemaker, we have word on two new additions to the cast of James Gunn's The Suicide Squad spin-off series.
THR reports that Picard's Sol Rodriguez and The Office actor David Denman have both signed on in supporting roles, and at least one of them will play an established DC Comics character.
While details on Denman's role are being kept under wraps, Rodriguez has been cast as Sasha Bordeaux, who made her debut as a Batman ally back in 2000’s Detective Comics No. 751.
First introduced as a young martial artist who is hired as Bruce Wayne's bodyguard by Lucius Fox, The Dark Knight actually trained Bordeaux as his new apprentice before she was framed for the murder of Vesper Fairchild and sent to prison. She later joined forces with the government agency known as Checkmate.

A "Star Trek" actor is jumping (star)ship to another major franchise, in a development that's sure to be of interest to DC superhero fans. The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop that Sol Rodriguez, most well known for starring in several episodes of "Star Trek: Picard" season 2 as Doctor Teresa Ramirez during the storyline set in present-day Los Angeles, has been cast in season 2 of yet another streaming series. Rodriguez is reportedly set to join James Gunn's "Peacemaker" show, which is currently in the midst of production after taking a bit of a lengthy break as a result of Gunn's busy schedule and, of course, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that shut down the industry last year.
As for which character she'll be portraying? That's none other than fan-favorite DC icon Sasha Bordeaux, a figure so famous and popular that I've never actually heard of her until now.

Plot: Vincent, one of New York’s leading puppeteers and creator of the hugely popular children’s television show, ‘Good Day Sunshine,’ struggles to cope with the loss of his son, Edgar, becoming increasingly distressed and volatile. Full of self-loathing and guilt around Edgar’s disappearance, he clings to his son’s drawings of a blue monster puppet, Eric, convinced that if he can get Eric on TV then Edgar will come home. As Vincent’s progressively destructive behaviour alienates his family, his work colleagues, and the detectives trying to help him, it’s Eric, a delusion of necessity, who becomes his only ally in the pursuit to bring his son home.
Review: The idea behind Eric, as depicted in the trailer for the series, is a fascinating concept. A man driven to the edge of sanity after the disappearance of his son bonds with an imaginary monster created by his child to rescue him.

What if Superman had turned out to be evil? That was the idea explored by director David Yarovesky’s super-powered horror film Brightburn, which was released back in 2019. Even though the movie made under $33 million at the global box office, the budget was low enough (somewhere in the range of 6 to 12 million) that producer James Gunn said they were talking about a sequel just a couple months after the film reached screens. Then we went a long time with no mentions of Brightburn 2 – until production company The H Collective, which was also behind Brightburn, confirmed that a sequel was in development last September. Things got confusing last month when Gunn took to Threads to say there are “no plans at all” for a Brightburn 2 right now… but Gunn has cleared up some of the confusion by revealing that a sequel is unlikely due to a complicated rights situation.
