Character actor, on stage from 1911. Entered films in 1915 to portray an assortment of emotionless, piercing-eyed villains. He was very active in Republic serials from the late 1930s, including Dick Tracy and Captain Marvel.
Not to be confused with and no blood relation to singer, actor, and entertainer John Davidson, who was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA on December 13, 1941.
