'Sorrell and Son' with H.B. Warner and Alice Joyce. 'Sorrell and Son' 1927 movie: Long thought lost, surprisingly effective father-love melodrama stars a superlative H.B. Warner Partially shot on location in England and produced independently by director Herbert Brenon at Joseph M. Schenck's United Artists, the 1927 Sorrell and Son is a skillful melodrama about paternal devotion in the face of both personal and social adversity. This long-thought-lost version of Warwick Deeping's 1925 bestseller benefits greatly from the veteran Brenon's assured direction, deservedly shortlisted in the first year of the Academy Awards.* Crucial to the film's effectiveness, however, is the portrayal of its central character, a war-scarred Englishman who sacrifices it all for the happiness of his son. Luckily, the London-born H.B. Warner, best remembered for playing Jesus Christ in another 1927 release, Cecil B. DeMille's The King of Kings, is the embodiment of honesty, selflessness, and devotion. Less is...

Chicago – The story of Sean Flynn – son of the legendary Errol Flynn, perpetrator of B-movies in the early 1960s, game warden in Kenya and finally war correspondent during the Vietnam conflict – would rate enough material for a 10-hour mini-series. Only his disappearance is covered in “The Road to Freedom.”
Rating: 2.5/5.0
Flynn, who famously first came to light during a vicious custody battle between his mother Lili Damita and father Errol Flynn, probably deserves a better narrative treatment than the soft soap that is “The Road to Freedom.” He is written and portrayed rather blandly, and the road he does travel as a reporter in war-torn Cambodia is paved with what looks like the same five soldiers of the Khmer Rouge regime.
Joshua Fredric Smith portrays Flynn, who is characterized by his roguish looks and reporter’s instinct. It is learned that he will go the extra mile to get the story,...

Forty years ago on April 6, 1970 two combat photojournalists covering the Vietnam War were captured by factions of the Viet Cong and Khmer Rouge in Cambodia and never heard from again. The news of their capture received much attention in the media when the identity of the two was released. For taken along with Dana Stone, a CBS correspondent was Sean Flynn, international film star and the only legitimate son of legendary movie star, Errol Flynn and his first wife, French actress, Lili Damita. The exploits, on and off screen of Sean‘s dad, Errol Flynn have earned him a controversial, if not legendary status in Hollywood history. Sean Flynn Biopic In The Works
The life of Hollywood icon Errol Flynn's son is to be documented in a new biopic.
Sean Flynn, an actor-turned-journalist, is the legendary star's son from his first marriage to French actress Lili Damita.
Flynn was working as a photojournalist for America's Time magazine when he vanished in the Cambodian jungle in 1970.
No one heard from Flynn or his colleague ever again - and their disappearance has remained a mystery.
The pair is believed to have been kidnapped by rebels, with many holding the country's former rulers Khmer Rouge or Vietnam's Viet Cong militant group to blame.
Now Flynn's disappearance is to be explored in a new project, which is to be developed by Mythic Films. Ralph Hemecker will write the script with Perry Deane Young, while Hemecker will also direct, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
