Kris studied architecture and set design at the Sint-Lukas instituut in Brussels. After a brief career as an architect, he studied drama at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, at the Lee Strasberg's Theatre Institute in New York, and at the Jeker Regie Studio organized by the Maastricht Theatre Academy.
Kris works for theatre, film and television. In the theatre he worked for larger houses, as well as for smaller groups. Since 2002 he is part of music theatre company Het Nieuwstedelijk.
He writes texts and creates plays that carry a great unrest in them, and often have his own biography as a starting point to tell something about life at this time. For Lied, the generation project, which he made for Het Nieuwstedelijk., following the birth of his son Jef, he got the Toneelschrijfprijsvan de Taalunie.
Besides his work as a theatre and film maker Kris is a teacher, researcher and artistic coördinator at LUCA drama, school or arts, campus Lemmens (Leuven).
