In the wake of Donald Trump and his running mate J.D. Vance’s sustained attacks on immigrants living in Springfield, Ohio, and a series of violent threats on the community, the city’s Republican mayor rejected a call with Vance, the state’s junior senator, according to emails obtained by Rolling Stone.

Based on Jay Bonansinga’s novel of the same name, “The Killer’s Game,” stars Dave Bautista who pays Joe Flood, an assassin who was recently diagnosed with a terminal disease. However, when he learns that he’s actually completely healthy and the hitmen he hired are now targeting his girlfriend, Joe straps in for a comedic but action-packed journey to save their lives.

“Flight Risk,” an aviation thriller starring Mark Wahlberg and directed by Mel Gibson, will land on Oct. 18, 2024, while Dave Bautista-led action-comedy “The Killer’s Game” will debut on Sept. 13, 2024. Meanwhile, Gerard Butler’s sequel “Den of Thieves: Pantera” will open on Jan. 10, 2025.

Marking Mel Gibson’s first feature as a director since 2016’s Hacksaw Ridge, Flight Risk hits theaters Oct. 18. The film has a script from Jared Rosenberg and counts Gibson as a producer alongside John Davis and John Fox for Davis Entertainment, in addition to Bruce Davey.

Wahlberg, Michelle Dockery and Topher Grace star in the thriller focusing on a pilot (Wahlberg) transporting an Air Marshal (Dockery) and a fugitive (Grace) across the Alaskan wilderness on the way to a trial.

“Extraction” director Sam Hargrave has signed on to direct Paramount Pictures’ “Kill Them All,” according to an insider with knowledge of the project.

“Kill Them All” is Paramount’s adaptation of a graphic novel by Kyle Starks. Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec are producing the project on behalf of The Saw Mill from a script by James Coyne. “Kill Them All” first started out as a project launched on Kickstarter before being acquired by Oni Press. Oni Press is serving as an executive producer, with Starks stepping in as an associate producer.

Victoria Mahoney, the first woman ever to work behind the camera on a “Star Wars” film, is in talks to make her major studio feature directorial debut on “Kill Them All” for Paramount.

“Kill Them All” is Paramount’s adaptation of a graphic novel by Kyle Starks. Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, are producing the project, from a script by James Coyne. “Kill Them All” first started out as a project launched on Kickstarter before being acquired by Oni Press.

“Kill Them All” centers on a hard drinking, former cop who wants his job back and the world’s greatest assassin who wants revenge. They can get both if they fight their way to the top floor of a skyscraper of crime – and if they can Kill Them All. It’s like a reverse “Die Hard” except they’re fighting up into the building rather than trying to fight their way out.

Suicide Squad director David Ayer is in talks to direct WWII thriller El-Alamein, named after the crucial battle in Egypt.

David Ayer, perhaps best known as the director of 2016 DC movie Suicide Squad, is returning to the genre of World War II tank battle epics, which he famously fielded as writer/director of the 2014 Brad Pitt-headlined Fury. With that WWII tank movie covering the War’s European Theater, he’s now eyeing an adaptation of a key skirmish in the Mediterranean, African and Middle East Theater, with a film titled El-Alamein.

Lionsgate is in talks with Ayer to direct El-Alamein, reports Deadline. The war drama will center on the 1942 WWII tanks-teeming battle in the Egyptian coastal town, just 150 miles west of Cairo. Exclusive: David Ayer is negotiating to direct El-Alamein, the true story of a series of epic, bloody battles in the desert that pitted German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel against Britain’s Eighth Army in North Africa, led by Bernard Montgomery.

The script originally was written by David Self, and the most recent draft is by James Coyne. Di Bonaventura Pictures’ Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian are producing with Thomas Augsberger. The plan is to begin production in early 2020.

This is a big swing for Lionsgate, under Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane. Ayer previously directed the WWII tank battle film Fury, which starred Brad Pitt. He most recently completed the gritty urban street crime drama The Tax Collector, which he wrote. Before that, Ayer directed the Netflix film Bright and Warner Bros’ Suicide Squad.

The story, first published in 2015, centers on a betrayed murderess seeking revenge who partners up with a hard drinking former cop wants his job back. They have to fight their way through 15 floors of criminals, assassins, drug lords, murderers, and accountants in a Miami high rise. Elizabeth Raposo and Jon Gonda will oversee the project for Paramount.

Exclusive: Paramount Pictures has acquired a sci-fi feature pitch from scribe James Coyne titled Cascade. It will be produced by Guy Ritchie and Lionel Wigram’s Ritchie/Wigram Productions in a reteam of sorts — the screenwriter had been attached to the third installment of Warner Bros’ Sherlock Holmes franchise before they went with the writers room approach, and Coyne also wrote a draft of Treasure Island for them. Currently eyeing a production start before the year’s end, producer Joel Silver has hinted that Sherlock Holmes 3 could herald the beginning of a new string of sequels.

Word comes by way of Collider, who spoke to Silver ahead of the release of Shane Black’s fast-talking – and frankly hilarious – noir thriller The Nice Guys. There, the producer conceded that Robert Downey Jr.’s overhanging commitment to the Marvel Cinematic Universe could potentially cause some scheduling headaches but at least for the time being, filming is expected to commence later in the fall.

James Coyne is hired for rewrite work on Sherlock Holmes 3, with Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law both set to return...

Further signs of progress, it seems, surrounding Sherlock Holmes 3. Notwithstanding the fact that it's been nearly five years since the release of Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows, Robert Downey Jr has recently expressed his keenness to return to the series, and even suggested last week that the film could be before the cameras this year.

The latest? A fresh writer has been brought aboard the project, to do some rewrite work.

The previous draft of the movie was penned by Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation and Iron Man 3 scribe Drew Pearce. Now, James Coyne has been hired by Warner Bros to do some further work on the Sherlock Holmes 3 screenplay.

It's not just Downey Jr likely to return when this one gets going.

New in Hollywood never singly comes. Just last week we reported on Robert Downey Jr teasing a new Sherlock Holmes film, which he hopes they'll get to shooting later this year. Now Deadline is reporting that James Coyne has been tapped to pen the script for the sequel, which is set to bring both Rdj and Jude Law back into the detective game.

Coyne's filmography is a relatively short one, but last year he wrote a Treasure Island script Warner Bros, which has yet to be produced. Given that WB is the same studio that's bringing Sherlock Holmes 3 to the big screen, it's safe to say that they're happy with what the writer has given them so far.

This move from WB seems to fall into line with the studio's new strategy. Following the disappointing recent years they've had, they've made recent moves to focus more on tentpole films.

James Coyne ("Puncture Wounds," "Vikingdom") has reportedly been brought on as writer on the script for the third film in Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes" action-adventure series.

At last report "Iron Man 3" screenwriter Drew Pearce was hired to work on a screenplay, whether Coyne is just polishing or starting over is unclear at this time.

Both Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are expected to reprise their roles of Holmes and Watson. Downey suggested last week that filming could begin later this year, but there's no confirmation of that at this time.

A Certain Justice, aka Puncture Wounds, is the latest film from the foursome of Giorgio Serafini, Dolph Lundgren, Vinnie Jones and Gianni Capaldi, who previously worked together on Hard Rush (aka Ambushed) and Blood of Redemption. This time round the group is joined by Ufc Fighter-turned action star Cung Le (from the awesome Dragon Eyes) and one of my favourite female stars working in Hollywood today, Briana Evigan.

The film tells the story of soldier John Nguyen, who returns home from a traumatic tour of duty in Iraq struggling with Ptsd. What little peace he had managed to build around him is shattered one fateful day when he rescues a local call girl from a group of violent pimps, killing one and severely injuring the other.

Even if you were to search the whole of American film, you might not find a use of voice-over less successful than appears in Puncture Wounds. Both in text (in James Coyne’s screenplay) and in performance (by lead Cung Le), the voice-over so voids all other qualities that to discuss anything else would be akin to discussing anything at a sweet 16 party other than the ox carcass rotting on the front lawn. You can try all you want, but it just doesn’t take.
