Composer, songwriter ("Bossa Nova"), and saxophonist, educated in high
school and a student of
Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco,
Robert Graettinger and Shorty Rogers. He
was a saxophonist in
Stan Kenton and His Orchestra
(1945-1951), and a member of several Hollywood film-studio orchestras,
and the Hollywood All Stars in Hermosa Beach, California. He composed
several scores for documentary films, and arranged for records. Joining
ASCAP in 1959, his other popular-song and instrumental compositions
include "Gone for the Day", "Jazz Theme and Variations" and "Tequila
Time".
