- Was a good friend of Telly Savalas, starring with him in many television programs such as My Palikari (1982) and Kojak (1973).
- He was a Greek American. His parents, Andromache (Fotiado) and Theoharis Ioannides Efstratiou, were Greek immigrants. His father was a steel worker.
