The Bag Man
Written by David Grovic and Paul Conway
Directed by David Grovic
USA, 2014
There was a time when seeing the involvement of either John Cusack or Robert De Niro would lend a hefty amount of prestige to any project, so the idea of both men appearing in the same film, circa the mid-1990s, perhaps, would portend a particularly exciting picture indeed. Sadly, we’re a long way from the mid-1990s, yet the new film The Bag Man, which stars both Cusack and De Niro, does inspire a moderate level of intrigue regarding these A-Listers. Specifically, it’s almost impossible to not wonder why, exactly, either man signed onto this middling, claustrophobically minded project. Even now, even after both of these generational icons have starred in a number of would-be direct-to-dvd cheapies, you have to wonder if they need the money this badly.

The Bag Man, the all new crime thriller starring John Cusack, Rebecca Da Costa, Robert De Niro, and Crispin Glover opens in theaters today, and in support of the film I talked to star Crispin Glover about what attracted him to the role, his own films, and the appeal of touring to promote a film. Check it out below.

Crispin Glover and Martin Klebba have joined the cast of Motel, the indie action thriller starring John Cusack, Robert De Niro and Rebecca Da Costa, reports THR.
Dominic Purcell and rapper Kirk “Sticky Fingaz” Jones are also featured among the cast.
Motel is described as a taut crime thriller concerning a hit man (Cusack) hired by an infamous crime boss (De Niro). To complete the job, the man must fight his way through a cast of other shadowy characters who also have been summoned by the mobster to a decrepit backwater motel in the Delta bayous. When the hit man crosses back with a mysterious woman, they partner up to escape from the crime boss’ clutches and survive a night of murderous havoc.
Based upon an original screenplay by James Russo, the film is being directed by David Grovic, who, along with writer Paul Conway, has also performed rewrites on the project.

Although he attained worldwide fame as George McFly in 1985′s Back to the Future (perhaps you’ve heard of it), Crispin Glover has opted for a more low-key career, pursuing his own offbeat passion projects and only making sporadic appearances in more mainstream fare. So when news of the actor joining a bigger project surfaces, you best believe that I perk up and pay attention.
THR says he’s joined the indie thriller Motel, co-starring John Cusack and Robert De Niro. The movie, currently in production, centers around a hit man hired by a notorious crime boss who has to fight his way through a whole host of shadowy characters in a secluded Bayou motel in order to complete his job. (In addition to Glover, dwarf actor Martin Klebba has also joined the cast. You might remember him from his brief screen time in Project X punching teenagers in the groin,...

Indie action thriller Motel is attracting quite the cast for its tale of hit men, criminals and other assorted lowlifes. So it feels somehow perfect for Crispin Glover to be stepping aboard. He and Mirror Mirror’s Martin Klebba have signed on to the film, which already features John Cusack, Robert De Niro and Rebecca Da Costa. The Hollywood Reporter has leaned that it’s a crime pic focused on Cusack’s hit man, who is hired by a crime boss (De Niro). To finish the job he’ll have to battle a series of other shady characters, and ends up partnering with Da Costa’s femme fatale to try to escape his fate. There’s no word on who Glover or Klebba will be playing, but you can bet Glover hasn’t signed on to play an ordinary motel customer.David Grovic is cranking the cameras right now, working...
