Throughout the 1970s, Norman was a midwife and became known as 'Mister Midwifery', as it has been said that he has assisted with over 3500 home births. In 1975, Norris the Troubadour & Seaboard Coastliners released a song inspired by him called "Mr. Midwifery (Norman Casserley)".
