- Served a two-year hitch in the US Marine Corps--1942-44--during World War II.
- Cason and a friend, Charlie Lentz, were driving in Lentz's car on a raccoon-hunting trip when the car went off the road near Buellton, CA. Cason's massive injuries included a fractured skull, extensive brain damage, as well as fracturing his cervical vertebrae, pelvis and right arm. Actual death occurred at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.
- Best known as a stuntman and regarded by many of his colleagues as one of the toughest men in the business (although in The Three Stooges short Punchy Cowpunchers (1950) he was beaten up and knocked through a window by Christine McIntyre).
- He did the stunt work and doubled for Bill Williams on The Adventures of Kit Carson (1951) television series.
- Before entering the film business he was, for a time, a professional boxer--a role he played in Ringside (1949).
- Brother of Chuck Cason.
